1) I must admit that Clemson has one of the most impressive rushing attacks I have seen. James Davis and CJ Spiller are truly amazing athletes.

2) This is the third time in 4 years TBowden has exposed our attacking defense with big running plays...only because he has the athletes in the backfield to do it. With our press and their speed you have to hit them before the first cut (which we did many times) or you have a one on one situation past the line of scrimmage. You get some big defensive plays doing this...but are also exposed to giving up the long run. Maybe we should try something different against them?

3) If Reggie is not healthy for Miami, we sure as heck better be ready to play Taylor Bennett. If RB's hip is not strong, he cannot plant and throw well...he has to work hard to remember that when healthy. It is definitely worth a try. I can live with a couple sets of downs without scores if TB to try it out....so long as he does not commit a big turnover...but that is a risk you have to be willing to take if your main man is banged up and cannot deliver the ball. RB was so frustrated he was not even seeing CJ when he was open...even before the snap he was not seeing it.

4) Another no lose situation...try another kicker. You cannot get negative points on a kick unless they block it and run it back. Unfortunately I have zero confidence in Travis Bell right now....hope he can figure it out....good kid.

5) Will Dwyer/Jones be our Davis/Spiller in the coming years?

6) Good to see 2 complete passes to Matthews...surprised there isn't a post dedicated to this topic.

7) We came SO CLOSE to picking off more passes in the first half...if those go our way.... (but they didn't)

8) What is up with the catch interference on Tony Clark? The guy tried to catch it and it slipped through his hands before he was hit....and there is no halo rule anymore.

9) Durant Brooks is a heck of a punter.

10) Recruiting is rocking and this coming weekend is another big one. Next year we can sign 25....sure bet there is a kicker in that group!

11) We have a very good football team and we are very much in the race for the Orange Bowl...we just have to beat Miami...and take care of 2 of 3 against NCST, UNC, and Duke...go to the ACC Championship and win it, We can do this....and THUG U needs to be taught a lesson! We are not a THUG U...and I am proud of that!

Our coaches need to realize that Reggie..

will try to play no matter how hurt and/or ineffective he is. Whether this is an example of courage/grit/determination or pride/ego/selfishness can be debated either way. In baseball, the manager is the one who has to decide when to pull the trigger on the starter, even if he is the "ace". In baseball, it is accepted theory and practice to realize that even the "ace" has an off-day. For whatever reason (shorter season, fewer games probably discourage tinkering with personnel) this is not the case in FB. In my opinion, if the starter is off, regardless of his or her position, put the #2 guy in. I want to go down firing all my bullets so to speak. This is also very true for our FG kicker.

Question for you or others: what do the coaches really think of our backup QB's? I am lead to believe that they must not think very highly of any of them if they believe that what we were getting from Ball last night was more than the backup's could deliver. Does anyone have any insight into this? I dread starting a true freshman at qb next year if the cupboard is really that bare.:twocents:

I don't know, but we need to get Jamaal Evans more PT. He looked better on KRs than anyone has looked for us in awhile.

Hiveredtech, I was thinking the same thing. Although be sure to include Jamaal in this bunch too, he looked awesome last night. So things are looking up for us in the future, hell they are still looking good for us now, we still control our destiny in the Coastal division.

I thought he looked good...but I do think Rashaun Grant hits the high gear faster on kickoff...runs a bit more recklessly which is what you need.

I did not like Dunlap back there prior to Grant in the Maryland game.

I was thinking the same thing. It appears that Threet and Nesbitt will be given equal opportunity with Bennett and Ingram. I just do not think Garner, Manley, or Booker will get the reps the others will get. Threet gets a big jump by being here in the spring...and he is a big boy...no problem seeing receivers as a 6-5/6-6 kid. He has the confidence/leadership capability to start as a freshman...kind of like Philip Rivers. We will see.
