If you're ready to hear some positives that is. We moved the ball but shot ourselves when we got near the other team's half of the field.

Total net offesnive yardage of 485. Penalties 7 for 64.

I think the QB play actually improved. Suggs threw 45 for 28 completions and Bilbo 8 times for two. They threw to 9 different receivers, 5 of whom had 2 or more catches. And no interceptions. Shows some decent QB decisions on the field.

Also, the Oline didn't allow a sack last night. Not too shabby.

Clinkscale had a 51 yd rush up the middle on the first drive (we lost him in the beginning of the 4th).

We sacked the UMd QB three times.

I had fun watching GT football again last night even though I'm sorely dissappointed in the outcome. I'll let somebody else continue to post the negatives.

You are right:

We moved the ball – between the 20s.

Offensive yardage was good except we didn’t get it when it counted i.e., 3rd down or 4th down.

Suggs did have a good completion ratio. Problem is they were mostly for 2 to 3 yards and he couldn’t hit the receivers when it was circuital. I do not blame him for the pass routes that were called. That responsibility falls on BOB.

Bilbo threw the only score of the game.

I do like the fact they went to 9 different receivers and had not INTs.

You are absolutely right about the OL. That is why our record should be a lot better.

Don't forget how many passes the WR's dropped. I know not all of them were perfect, but if it hits you in the hands, you should catch it.
I think BOB called his best game this year(against a quality team), I think that was because he was in the coaches box.
We didn't lose because QB play or play calling.
We lost because of execution, mistakes and injuries.

Another bright spot was how cool AJ was under pressure. On two occasions he had 3rd and long and once he completed a pass for a two yard loss and the other he completed a pass behind the LOS for a two yard gain eight yards short of a first down. Another occasion in the fourth quarter he had 3rd and goal on the Virginia 2 yard and fumbled the snap and Tech recovered at the six when AJ again completed a pass behind the LOS on 4th down for a two yard gain well short of the goal line. This kid is a winner I must admit. We
have been blessed with the second coming of BILL LEWIS. We are in deep dodo and any objective football fan knows it too. Chan is not the MAN.

BigBuck - we have different philosophies. I don't like what's happened this year but I'm going to give Chan his fair shake. I would also hope that you would give AJ his. Course your definition of a fair shake, I infer, would be to send them both packing yesterday. Too each his own.

We've run that same throw it short crap for a decade, where we throw it short or even behind the LOS and try to let the receiver pick up the yardage. Maybe you have the official playbook at home and know what the reads are and who the primary receiver is, but I sure don't. Not to mention I have a hard time watching TV to see whether or not the downfield receivers are open. I'm of the opinion that I have to trust AJ and Chan on those plays until I get the playbook and watch the game film to know what the right decision was.

In the meantime, I'll be pulling 4 GT, regardless of who the coach, QB or jock strap washer is.

Good post, BuzzFlowers.

You know, some guys mention Bill Lewis so much I'm beginning to think they must have enjoyed those days. They sound nostalgic. Do they take some perverse joy in having a loser to complain about? I dono. I wonder what they'll do when CG's teams start winning? It will be a hell of an upset if he doesn't turn out to be an excellent coach.

Big Buck, LOL!! I agree with you and cannot understand to save my life why some people feel the need to be apologists for this team and staff. It is like they take it personally.

When we lose 34-10 (the only TD was a garbage TD), there is no "silver lining". So what if qb was a bit better? What good did it do? Glad if he got some diverse pleasure out of individual stats. I do not think so.

Looking forward to new OC and DC next yr. if not before.

You agreed so much you posted twice!

I prefer to look on the bright side of life. (Queue the Monty Python music) And I stated as much by prefacing my comments with "BigBuck - we have different philosophies". And I admit, I gripe as much as anybody about the negatives. I just like to find a healthy balance otherwise I'll need a higher dose of medication.

And I do take some sort of 'perverse' (or did you really mean diverse?) pleasure from some of these positive stats. It means that some things are going right for our players even though the outcome sucked.

Sorry I planted a rose in your field of manure. I wondered with all the negativity being posted if anyone even noticed what went right. Obviously, from your post, you don't care.

Keeping with that positive philosophy, thank God you're a Tech fan.

There were some positives although hard to find.
1.That fake punt was neat.
2.The punt coverage was good.
3.Actually the play calling and variety was good, almost too much variety.(2 reverses inside the 10?)
4.I would like to comend for the 0 intercepts but when you are throwing for 3 yds and your receiver is sliding down for completions.PLEEEEZZE>

AlaGold, no need to worry our man Chan will get it all ironed out by the year 2012. Didn't they
suggest we look on the bright side?
