Some things that concern me on Hatcher...

There seems to be a groundswell of support for Hatcher over the last 24 hrs. and I hope Drad knows better (Im quite confident he does) and doesn't feel pressured into seriously considering him, if he feels Hatcher is not the best man for GT. We have Mark Bradley (Who has never been pro-GT) pushing his Hatcher agenda and then evidently R&R over on the hive pushing him with all his hive groupies chiming in right after him.

I will support Chris Hatcher if in fact Drad hires him, that is for sure, but this does concern me.

Also, as a few other's here have pointed out, they think Hatcher has relied heavily on transfers at both GSU and Valdosta State...That will not be the case at GT.
To pick someone with no d1 coaching experience at all would be a major risk for Drad in his 1st hire for any coach at GT...I don't think he is willing to take that risk..Just my opinion.

I assume you meant "DI-A" coaching experience because, last I checked, Georgia Southern is in Division I.

The other part of your arguments seem to center around the fact people from the Hive and Mark Bradley like him. So what? I'm sure they like ice cream as well, but I'm not going to stop eating ice cream because some posters I may not agree with like it.

There is one legit concern in this, but that's being covered in another thread, thus making this one triply redundant.

I like Hatcher because I believe he appears to be the best fit with what we are looking for. But, that is just based on what I know about him from his previous work. My mind could be changed with facts to the contrary.

By the way, Hatcher has D1 coaching experience - but not D1 head coaching experience. Unlike Hatcher, Muschamp has no head coaching experience anywhere. Fisher is the same as Muschamp I believe.

Whether or not someone on the Hive is pushing a candidate shouldn't enter into the equation.

Hatcher at Tech is almost too good to be true. Don't worry about the NCAA transfers stuff. Why not use them at the D-2 and D-1aa levels?

Hatcher is big-time and will be on a big-time stage very soon - whether it is on Techwood Dr or not.

I just want him interviewed. He win over DRad if he wants the job. IMHO.

Hatcher is a risker die roll, with a much higher possible return. I say we roll the dice.

Do we really need two threads started about the same subject by the same poster?

Excuse me, I don't guess we do..
Just thought with so many threads on Chris Hatcher both on here, the hive, and on the newspapers that maybe someone would miss my questions under the other posts...Evidentley people haven't and are willing to give answers to the questions/concerns I have raised..So sorry if this bothered you.

Georgia Tech has too much history, integrity, and honor for us to be walking around calling our offense the "HATCH ATTACK". Please do not say that anymore!!!!!!

I for one prefer "Hatch Attack" over the "Gailey Failey."

Without knowing anything else about Hatcher, I think the questions are about the academic divide between VSU/GSU and GT. The questions aren't so much about Hatcher himself.

I prefer Go Jackets!!!

Always remember they need to be grateful to be a part of this program, we don't need to be grateful to them for coming here!!! This is our team not Chan Gailey's, GOL, or Chris Hatchers.

We are getting way ahead of ourselves here!!!!!

At VSU/GSU he recruited from the available pool...at GT he would do the same, regardless of the requirements, there is still a limited pool he could choose from and the same holds true for any other coach we bring in.

Academics don't worry me specifically. Making the best out of what we have available in both talent and recruiting is all I care about. I'm sure Hatcher is popular among the Georgia HS coaches and that could go along way.

Hatcher was QB / TE Coach at Central Florida for one year where he coached Daunte Culpepper and QB Coach for 3 years at Kentucky where he coached Tim Couch (NFL #1 Pick). He has experience coaching at the D-IA level and no doubt was part of recruiting at the level while there.

Most D-IAA and D-II programs that are successful get a number of transfers from the D-IA that are important to their success, but it is not like those guys just fall into your lap. They have to be recruited as well.

Also keep in mind that transfers to D-IAA and D-II are not necessarily guys that flunk out but also guys that want PT. Andy Hall comes to mind. Dusty Bonner followed him from UK to VSU because he wanted to play for him.

Why does this concern you unless your thought process is akin to a 13 year old girl?

Clough on the next hire:

Clough did say he would hope for a coach who could bring more innovation on offense -- anything to get more alumni, students and even non alumni more excited and in the stands.

"We're looking for a coach who plays an exciting game," Clough said

Does anyone come to mind that meets these criteria? I can think of one!

I was at VSU the year before he came and the year he came, the difference between "football" at VSU was night and day, after his 2nd year there football was king, whereas before nobody, and I mean nobody went to the games. Maybe it was all attributed to winning, but I got to beleive he got out there and "sold" VSU football.

this is a no brainer...IMO, if we don't pull the trigger on this one we will wish that we did. But a reason why I don't think it will happen is b/c it doesn't seem like a "Tech" move, if you know what I mean...If we want to sell tickets and have kids wanting to play Tech football, this is who we need.:fingersx:

One reason i like Hatcher is the simple fact that he had to clean up a dawg's mess (DUMBASS VAN GORDER) and showed GSU how to do it undumbassedly. Really cleaned things up in one year at GSU. Kudos to the Hatch Attack.
