This game was great for the optimists and the pessimists. The optimists get a win and can talk about a "W is a W" and how the team did what it took to win. The pessimists can talk about how Clemson handed us the game with mistakes. (We made mistakes too, but I think there's hurt worse.)

Some things are undeniable. The defense is back to form. We ain't gonna outscore anyone, so the defense has to play well for us to win. (It's funny how ten years ago the opposite was true.)

Another thing that we overlook and take for granted is the strength of our kickers. We wail about missed touchdowns but forget what a weapon we have in an accurate kicker and punter. If we swap kickers today then Clemson wins.

Today's game taught me how extremely bad we're gonna be next year.

Our 2 best kickers. Gone.

Our 2 best LB's. Gone.

Mike Cox and TC. Gone.

Jamal Lewis and DJ Jones. Gone.

Without our kickers today it would have been a tighter game.

TBell has a chance at All-American status along with Brooks if he keeps it up.

What a wuss. Players graduate every year and every team has to replace them. How do you know our kickers won't be better next year, for example? You don't even know who they will be. Get a grip. We have plenty to worry about this year without worrying about next year already.

Players come and play.
Players go.
New players come and play.
New players will eventually go.

...and so on and so on.

That's the college game --was then --is now.

I wonder how much, if any, it helps Bell not to have to worry about kickoffs? Does it save his leg?

It is funny how some big name schools have lousy kicking games. I guess they hate to waste a scholarship on a kicker, but that teams like FSU should know how important a good kicker can be.

The reason most schools don't give kickers scholarships is because you simply can't predict who will be good and who won't. It's such a mental thing with kickers that most teams want to bring them in as preferred walkons and make them earn the 'ship. It worked for us with both Bell and Durant you know.
