Something huge happened last night

other than the biggest win since '90.

At least for me, Chan Gailey became the head coach of Ga. Tech. I know that sounds ridiculous, but in the past there was a question in my mind of how committed he was to Tech.

During the hell of last week I thought Chan's emotions and passion for Tech showed itself loud and clear. Last night, there was a fire in his demeanor that I have not seen at gametime.
I understand that Chan is not one to run his mouth about himself. That's a great characteristic of this fine man. Last night I thought this team demonstrated the respect and admiration they have for this man. That says much more than any words can.

Anyway, I know I can be reactionary and I can only say that this feeling is not because we hung on to beat #3 at the end of arguably the worst week in Ga. Tech football.

I am just listening to a strong feeling in my gut. That is, that Chan Gailey is now a "Tech Man". I am sure he probably was long before I noticed, but his post game emotions showed me a lot about the way he feels about his players and for Ma Tech.

I agree

he either could do the same ole, same ole lay down as 18 pts underdogs when this wk's news hit or STEP UP and go forward.Well,he took HIS team forward.
I still don't like his 20 pt/game Off but he stepped up big-time last nite.

You know, I think you're on to something there. Before last night, he was just the coach, but after he got a bit fired up with the media and gave the 'Canes the kind of game they hardly ever see, he graduated to Tech man. Have the kids ready for every game like this one, and he'll be a legend by the end of his contract. I can't be prouder of the way the boys played last night, I think we may have turned a corner, and what better time to do it?

I think something clicked in Ball last night too, it seems like he finally got it, and we were playing his game. He's playing the officials now, and thats excellent to see. Ball is one of the best representation of a Tech man that I cant think of, he's not the fastest, doesn't have the best arm, but he'll give 'em hell week in and week out and leaves his all on the field. Always been a fan and defender of RB, and last night, he played like I knew he could. The numbers don't matter, but he led the for 60 minutes.

I am now 100% satisfied with the season (7 wins is what I said since August), CCG earned his extension and a lot of respect last night.

Totally agree. Chan has said the same things many times, "Nobody except those of us in that locker room believed this would happen." However, it was always said with a little bit of... well, a lack of conviction / passion. Last night, he said everything with passion, and made me bee-lieve.

The first win over Auburn didn't do it. Neither was the second Auburn win good enough. Ditto for the wins over Carolina, NC State, or even Clemson but this one may in fact go down as the one that unites the Tech fan base behind Gailey. Some, (though certainly not I) would even argue that if they had to pick one they would rather have the Jackets beat Miami than win against Georgia. From a national perspective beating the Canes has certainly sent shock waves through college football.

I don't know if a win last night would have been as powerful, in the much bigger picture, without the glaring circumstances of the last several days. In my mind at least, Chan Gailey stood out as a rock the entire week.
Without a doubt, imo , CG has had his most positively defining GT moment in his career.
Good for him, good for us.

I would agree, but you also have to realize that in Div 1A ball, there is an enormous amount of parity in anyone teams starting 22. Certainly, not taking anything away from the win, but we need to be ready this Saturday.

Pocket Rocket:

Chan Gailey is exactly who he has always been as a Football Coach and a man of accomplished integrity. Never have doubted that. Pocket, don't change the subject to cover one of your initial directives on Sting Talk. Chan's not, and frankly never been the problem in the GTAA - he has always been a commited leader of our program. On the other hand, look how many times Dave Braine has dropped the ball, failed to provide administrative support, played the denial role in matters that have directly affected our football team. Chan's a blessing at this point in our history - Braine's an ass-covering user!! How's that for exposure Pocket Rocket?? I stand as charged. Now create another thread to cover your manipulating tactics - we'll all catch on eventually - keep it up.

Sport,

you have a problem. What has dragged you out of your hole today? It seems a bit odd that you pick this great time in Tech football to show your self tonight. What you have pecked out on your keyboard doesn't make any sense.
Lets agree that tonight is the very first time that you and I have changed "thoughts" on anything, right??

It is bizarre that you would jump on me now. I have always made my opinions clear on here, one way or the other.

The best I can understand from your ramblings is that you are pro Chan Gailey and anti Dave Braine.
I have just laid out my 100% vote of confidence for Chan Gailey as this school's coach, and you have a big problem with that.
There must be something else.

That is the point - you "Prompt D Braine under the topic of Haters" in a post a few moments earlier, and then you convert to another thread taughting Chan Gailey (and I agree with the praise of Chan Gailey) after I calll you out on the previous post. No hole Sport, just a straight up question. Are you searching for Dave opponents and / or spouting what we already know about Gailey to make Dave look better. No confusion, just a questioning approach. Who you going to blame for questioning anything, and why is it so tough to explain the Dave thing? I am very excited about the kids, the team, the character, the accomplishment, and the Coaches, especially Chan Gailey. And David Braine deserves no credit - and don't piss water on my, "or our", ability to state the facts. those kids represented every bit of what Georgia Tech is all about - and it is not about David Braine.

slowly step away from the key board.

Nope, still don't get your point. Try this. One point at a time, maybe we'll figure out where you're going. It seems you don't like Dave. Well, pocket watch doesn't either. Better now?
