Honestly know...

I know how you feel about CCG. I know how you feel about Coach O'Leary....

But do you still maintain, as you did a few weeks ago, that the 2001 coaching assistants were better than the ones we have now?

Or are you willing to admit that you were mistaken?

Can't speak for MsTech, but to answer your question....YES.

You must have been watching a different team than me in 2001.

I saw a staff lose numerous games in the second half to teams with FAR less talent and depth. Clemson beat us with one player (and for that matter one play)

I saw a coaching staff that could not develop a backup QB, and even let Godsey regress as the season went on.

I cannot think of a single player on that team that played better at the end of the season than they did in the beginning.

How many coaches off that staff are currently in a position that could be described as a promotion? Kelly at Stanford is the only one that comes to mind. How many games have they won since he started there?

And why did O'Leary abandon so many of them?

On the defensive side the improvement of Jon Tenuta and Co. is a huge improvement over Ted Roof and his assistants. On the offensive, no way can the current staff be seen as an improvement. Note: It just came across in the latest NCAA Div. 1 stats that Tech is ranked #112 in total offense.

three games, three great defenses. Would you like to make a personal wager that we move no higher tha 112 by season's end?

Hilarious post Beeware..

What ... pray tell.. is the basis for your staunch opinion..

O'leary had burned so many bridges by the end of his tenure nobody wanted to work for him. Except for Ralph, none of Bobby Ross's former assistants could stand him. George had to promote guys like Ted Roof and Bill O'Brien who were not ready to be Division 1 Coordinators because no established coordinators wanted anything to do with him

That is an interesting point. He did not assemble the kind of staff at ND that one would have expected. (give that ND should be an easy place to recruit top assistants)

Once again BW is spouting off at the mouth. There is not one of the assist. that most head coaches would have kept. CCG kept BOB only for continuity and look what that cost us. A QB so undercoached he could not have made most hi school teams, play calling that at best could be called abismal. So keep it up BW and the new folks to the board will get to know you like we (us old guys) already do.
