he and Miles have obviously been talking and LSU will have a DC opening so I think he's headed there next week if he is not offered the GT job. Pellini goes to Nebraska on Monday so says everyone and Tenuta will head to Baton Rouge.

I wish we would go after Turner Gill; I think he would work wonders at GT.

he will do wonders with the talent that lsu has if he does end up there...at least he will be able to continue to shut out UGA every once in a while...

Personally I think a Tenuta style defense is dumb for a team annually loaded with TOP talent. Unless, that is, that they are loaded with TOP CB talent. Otherwise, the Tenuta defense has proven over and over and over again that they will, a couple of times a year, get beat by the big play. If you are loaded as LSU is, then why would you put yourself at risk for two losses annually.

You wouldn't. And, you are right.

With better talent, my guess is they won't get beat as much. If we were able to create good consistent pressure from the front 4 (like he would be able to at a school like lsu), he wouldnt have to blitz every single player...just an additional 1 or 2 per down. I think he will be highly successful at a school with loads of defensive talent, but i think he adapts his defense some...

So you have a guy who has developed a risky blitzing D that you recognize won't really work best for you, and he is very expensive, but you hire him anyway and you want him to change to a conventional D?

LSU got played by a mediocre HC. And if he brings in Tenuta, good luck. (Not to Miles, but I will cheer for Tenuta no matter what. He's a Tech man in my mind now.)

First off, I dont think that it won't work best for them. Second of all, I dont think that him modifying will make him conventional. I think he would keep much of what has made his defenses good. I bet he still blitzes every down. Maybe he doesnt bring 2 guys every time though. Tenuta loves the blitz. He always will. Him claim to fame is that you never know who is blitzing...

I think it's pretty obvious that if he went to LSU he would have the talent in terms of shut-down corners to still run the same exact D and not get beat nearly as often. That being said, he might well modify it like other posters have said to only blitz one at a time given that he'll probably get more push from the front 4.

Like many have pointed out on here before, Tenuta's scheme is awesome if you have the corners to run it.

Tenuta's scheme is also vulnerable to the quick pass. It wouldn't work in the pros where everyone can catch and more than a few of the QBs are exceptional.

We have struggled against good QBs. Luckily most teams we face either have stinky QBs or stinky receivers. Only BC had a good QB and good hands receivers and they handled us. Other teams pulled it off for a series or two.

The SEC has much better QBs than the ACC right now. The Big 10 doesn't. If he went to Michigan he probably would excell. At LSU the jury would be out.

One reason why I think if we played FSU after 2003, they would have continued to have our number is because I think they would have exploited this worse than anyone else. They did it to us in the late goings of the 03 game and it always seemed to be their bread and butter before that.

thats like saying that a guy who is a good bluffer wont play his hand well if hes dealt 3 Aces...

the D is only risky if you leave yourself too vulnerable. with a better natural rush, you dont need to send as many on the blitz. and those left behind are more capable to cover the holes

I already heard that Taylor is transferring to Southern Cal. Seriously, I would like to hear what you have heard.

If you're thinking of the VT and BC games this year, the corners had to give so much cushion to prevent the long ball.

Tenuta also did well against a good number of good QBs before this year, such as Phillip Rivers and Brady Quinn.

I think he'll be a very good hire for a school loaded with talent.

Hate to hear this abt JT leaving. But I would like to hear about the transfers that will be leaving as well. Also if JT is gone then WM just moved up in my list of coaches.
