Has Tech's offense rated the 3rd best in the ACC....potentially.

They have Tech's defense rated 5th, special teams 10th.

Weeell.....I think Tech's defense will be better than 5th....2nd or 3rd likely....and I'm very hopeful the special teams will be in the top 6 in the ACC.

That leaves the offense. 3rd best? Depends.....depends on if Reggie Ball can prosper under a clearcut chain of command, Patrick Nix: Offensive Coordinator in Charge and Chan Gailey; Head Coach with confidence in his offensive coordinator.

With the pieces already in place from last year, with freshman Jamaal Evans......a season long effective Reggie Ball could provide Tech with a big year.

IF.....Reggie can do it. Its up to him and Nix to get it done.

If we finish 3rd in offense in the ACC then the ACC is gonna have some lousy offenses.

Yeah you're right. Never mind that Reggie could have a great year. Lets just go ahead and think the worst, geesh!

Well now let's don't be too harsh on 'ole Knox there. Look at it realistically. What has Reggie done in the past 3 years to lead you to believe that he is going to have a "Breakout" season? I am optimistic that this will be his best year productive wise but the argument could be said that if he ain't got it by now...

I understand but why can't we be positive for once. Seems like everyone loves kicking the horse over and over.

Kicking the horse over and over?

People kick the horse because the horse (in this case, CCG) has been kicking us in the nuts for a few years now.

Remember the last game Gailey coached?

Yeah, I remember the last game very much and it sucked but I have the ability to move forward and look forward to great things in the future.

One thing kills me about some Tech fans and there are some great ones out there, some live in the past to the point that they can't see or get excited about the future so all they continue to do is bring up 51-7 or the sorry ass bowl games we go to, or how stupid CG is and so on.

We're NOT positive on this board. If anything I think this board is too positive at times. I'm not saying we need to be more like Buzzoff but I think people should be able to express their concerns with our program without getting chewed out for it. Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't our offense last or close to it in the ACC last year? So what big changes have we made in the off-season that would lead this guy to believe that we are going to be 3rd?

Well, I tell you what how about everyone who lives in the Atlanta area let's all go to practices in the fall and see what's going on.

I don't have a problem with negative comments but the same ones over and over what kill me. Go back and you can probably find 30 threads bashing reggie and chan and it's over and over.

Apparently some changes have been made down there and we will find out soon. But why can't we be excited instead of throwing insults and such out there? and we are still 40 days out of camp.

That's funny /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hugelaugh.gif

Seriously though, I don't think the problem has been so much on CGG shoulders as it has with he and RB. Many times in back-tracking the DVR I didn't have a problem with the playcalling, it just wasn't executed right.

Fridge, I am excited about Tech football. I get excited every year. But it is easy to understand why a lot of people take the belief that why should this season be any different than the rest when that's all we've seen from CCG. I hope we go undefeated but hope and reality are sometimes two different things.

I do, however, think that 8 wins are not out of the question by a long shot!

You're right Tech but Chan finally did things he needed to do and people still shit on him. Look i'm not happy with the past couple years losing to georgia and the lower tier bowls but Chan did fire wilson, promoted Nix brought in top notch recruiting coordinator. Season tickets are rising kids are graduating and we are finally getting some top notch kids.

I told Chan personally that last year wasn't acceptable and nothing in my mind less than 9 wins before a bowl is acceptable in MY mind.

And I don't wear gold color glasses either, i'm as realistic as anyone can be.

Your right Mover!

Now, Nix is the most suspect change because of his prior association with the offense and Gailey.

But since no one can actually separate the influence that Gailey had on the offense from the influence that Nix had on the offense......there is no reason to believe that the change will not be legitimate.....and effective.

What I think people are missing is that Reggie doesn't have to be great for our offense to have a break out year. He just has to be decent. If he can rank in the top 50 in the NCAA in passing efficiency our offense weill be great. He's not that far off and neither is our offense.

Sorry, but he is far off. I was watching the '04 Clemson game on CSS during the Braves commercials and it's apparent that he hasn't progressed much if any at all since then. There were at least 3 passes on the second to last drive that were damn near picks a la the UGAy game last year. We have one legitimate threat at WR, which doesn't help his cause.

We've seen Reggie's best and it's not good.

Maybe so, maybe not. With a clear chain of command as far as the coaching staff is concerned.....with a much clearer, more defined role, Nix might have a more profound impact on Reggie. We know Reggie can do it in small spurts....the first two drives against Auburn he looked like a Heisman Trophy winner....but in all honesty that was the best he played all year....them two drives.

Nix has to stay on his ass as far as fundementals and in his ear during games as far as focus. With Evans in the lineup, with a new offense, it could be an exciting year as far as the offense is concerned.

I understand the concerns with Reggie and Nix. I have them as well. Reggie has one more year to prove himself. Nix has to get the offense out of the ditch. Nix has instituted changes just as Gailey has. The payoff will be if Reggie can change also.

Now here's where I've got a problem with ya! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

QUOTE SLJ: "Reggie has one more year to prove himself."

Thats the problem he has one more year and he has not improved from game one 3 years ago. Sub .500 completions more Ints that TD's. But he's here and I hope Nix can make a difference and does stay in his ear. But, and I don't want to down the kid, he hasn't shown much in three years so whats to make me or anyone believe he will all of sudden be Joe Montana? In his defense the kid has at times looked like superman he just does not sustain it. Throws off back foot, throws into coverage, telegraphs his throws etc.

He doesn't have to be Joe Montana, foggy. He just needs to be serviceable. At this point that simply means hit the open receiver and cut down on INTs. He doesn't have to make great plays or throws.

Reggie has his problems, no doubt, and although his stats haven't reflected it, he HAS improved over the past three years albeit incrementally.

If you can't see that, then you either ain't looking or you don't know the game.

But, HEY! If you and Knox were to admit that RB has shown improvement, then you'd have to admit Gailey was accomplishing something and we can't have that, now can we?

I like r'mover's comment: geesh.
