Did anyone else see the cover of the 2008 College Yearbook and instantly blow chunks? :ugh:

This year, much like 2000, I close my eyes when I approach pre-season mags and go straight to our section and I only do that so I know how wrong they are later in the year.

It's obviously somewhat more intense this year, but I think alot of people forget how in 2000 Donnan and Quincy were going to take Georgia back to their place at the right hand of the Father.

We weathered that media-dog love fest and what was supposed to be a shaky offense at best came out and gave us a really great season.

didn't quincy commit to GT for baseball out of HS?

i think he committed to Tech for FB out of HS, then went and signed a pro baseball contract. then he decided to go play college football, but signed with UGA instead of Tech

Which is suprising, because any coke that goes to Athens had to come through Atlanta, he could have cut out the middle man.

Actually, Quitcy, committed to Auburn. T. Martin said he would go to UT instead of Auburn. Quitcy then signed loi w/ tech. Did not enroll, went to cubs minor leagues. Could not hit the curve ball. Decided to come back to college but Joe Ham was in the way at Tech. Asked out of his loi. We said no, but the NCAA said yes. Hince the nickname quitcy. He quit everthing he ever did, except coke.

Jane, you ignorant slut. No. He was our top football recruit. The only true five star we've ever signed until Calvin Johnson came along. He ended up going to play minor league ball for the Cubs instead of playing football. After 3 years of that, he tried to come back but O'Leary told him he would have to sit behind Joe Hamilton who was coming back for his junior season after a stellar sophmore performance. Quincy wanted out of his LOI, O'Leary refused, but Quincy got help from the NCAA and was able to enroll at UGA.

Huh,
Donnie Davis, Steagall, Tall Thin Linebacker about 10 year ago...

Donnie Davis would probably have been a 5 star but that was before they had star rankings. Steagall was not a 5 star, I don't even think they had stars then and even if they did, he still wouldn't have been close. Tell thin linebacker was Chris Edwards, and he was highly regarded, but again, not a 5 star. You may be thinking of Hobie Holiday, who was not tall, not thin, and NOT a five star either.

So huh?

BOR, your memory fails you. Steagall was EXTREMELY HIGHLY RATED, and although his lack of performance on the Flats (mostly due to continuous injury) did not live up to billing, he would have been at least a 4-star if not a 5-star coming out of HS.

also, we might agree that despite there not being "stars" until some time fairly recently, that a very highly sought recruit could be termed a "five star" recruit even in the absence of any actual star rankings, at least that would be a logical extention
