This is one thing that I'm pretty scared about against ND. What if they trot out 4 WR's? Does that scare you at all? Wouldn't this be exposing our weakness? Thoughts and feelings....

They could very well do that but they will need to be ready for the blitz package Coach T. will put on them.

I hope that they do. I'll go on record as saying that they cannot score much on us without establishing a running game. Now, they may use the pass to set up the run, but they will have to run effectively to put up more than 14-17 points. It will be hard to run on our front with 4 wides unless their OL is better than I believe it is.

They're returning 4 starters.

I'm aware of that, but I also know what we're returning on the defensive front seven, plus Mr. Richard.

Correction, they're returning 3 starters and another who has plenty of playing experience. You can't lose 2 starters and return 4 starters.

well, of the WR/TE they have returning, only one had more than about 6 catches last year. Their number 2 has only played one full game since the 2004 season due to injury. The rest were seeing at best 1 catch every 2 or 3 games. You can't expect these guys to suddenly become super stars. Their WR/TE seem to be in the same boat at our DBs. One true prove guy, then a bunch of question marks.

On top of having inexperienced/rusty receivers, they are going on the road, at night, the first game of the year. Expect them to use the threat of the pass, to try and open up the run. Draws, counters, etc. They rushed for 275 in their road opener against Pitt last year.

I believe we have a more athletic DB core this year. I say more them closer to the line, jam them on the line. Encourage the run, much like Clemson last year. Make someone besides Samardzija step up.

Weis will try to run Walker a lot - watch for plenty of draw plays and mis-direction. I'm sure Darius will want to have a big game coming back home to GA.

I'm hoping he'll be introduced to the GT turf OFTEN and WITH AN ENORMOUS AMOUNT OF FORCE!!

Then they had better have their second string QB ready to go. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bricks.gif
