UF are idiots for not keeping this guy.

USC has much inferior talent and they have UF on the ropes.

UF didn't have a choice, Spurrier ran off for a Head Coaching job in the NFL. Trust me if UF could have kept him they would have, because UF went into a downward spiral from 2002-2004 because of his departure with Zook at the helm.

Had your AD offered him after the Washington debacle he would have accepted.

He also would not have left if the AD would have stood by him.

I wonder what USC's record against UF is going to be when Spurrier retires.

UF should have treated Spurrier like F$U is treating BB.

The last thing I would want for the AD to offer a coach who left the team for the NFL, what is to prevent him from leaving again.
Anyway I don't feel like arguing, I'm to happy because UF just went ahead 17-16 w/ 3 minutes left in 4th quarter.

Whatever, I think Meyer and company are just as good and they will win more National Championships than Spurrier did at UF.

Yeah Law ....

he's real good with the special teams :eek5: .

Sorry I couldn't resist.

If you are referring to the awful field goal kicking, you are right, but remember UF won this game by blocking two field goals including the fg attempt by USC w/ 8 seconds left. So Meyer's ST's are incredibly good and incredibly awful at the same time, so it evens out I guess.

I agree, I think Meyer is a great coach. If it wasnt for all the stupid mistakes that the gators made the score wouldn't have even been close IMO!

Now once he recruits watch what happens over at Columbia.

I would not be surprised if Spurrier wins a NC at USC.

As much as I hate him, one of the best at the game today and of all time and a helluva fine fella besides. Just a ..well.. erm....

(Spurrier beat TECH as UF's qb in Coach Dodd's last game in the '67 Orange Bowl)

Shouldn't have been close you are right. The problem with this year's Gators team offensively is that Meyer does not have the ideal players for his Spread option attack playing now. The players who fit are the Recruiting class he just brought in and of course they are freshmen, so I think in the next few years you will see the Offense of Utah in 2004 reveal itself since Meyer will have his ideal players in starting roles.
Defense wins championships and that will be especially true this year if UF can make it and win the MNC, because their D is dominating and it is keeping the Gators in games(reminds me a little of GT in certain games where our D has to make up for the O's blunders).

No way gnats. Doesn't matter if it's Spurrier, the coots will never win a MNC in football. The most impressive thing about their football heritage are their fans.
