Was stadium expansion the worst decision made by GT in a long time? Pretty much forced by GOL based on whether we wanted to keep him and compete at the highest level.
It obviously didn't keep him and it certainly doesn't assure we will compete at the highest level.
And there is a lot of $$$$$$ required and seats that need to be sold.

The stadium desperately needed remodeling and the extra seats will be an added bonus for recruiting. Having a small stadium is another hurdle that has to be overcome in recruiting. I believe long term we will be glad we built the extra seats

The stadium renovation was obviously needed. The stadium expansion was also needed... primarily for recruiting.

Coach O'leary's successful tenure obviously was the main force behind getting the stadium improvements; but the fact that he left is not a good excuse for lowering our coaching standards, and allowing mediocrity to set in and make the stadium expansion look potentially unwise, after the fact.

If we will get a capable coach in here, the stadium expansion will be an asset.

We know that Auburn, UGA, Clemson, and N.C. State will be sellouts next year. Extra seats will be an added benefit to recruiting.

Renovation was long overdue, especially the restrooms. To me, extra seating capacity is only beneficial to recruiting if those seats have someone in them and those "extra someones" will be cheering for GT. Adding empty seats or seats filled with red/white, red/black and orange/blue for the 3 sellouts you mentioned, I don't think will help recruiting unless you mean their recruiting. I think that is why GT became the only Div I team to contract their seating capacity a few years ago.

Agree with Beeware. Plus, the expansion is really appreciated by Auburn, Georgia, NCState, etc. as they get to bring more people, enjoy Atlanta shopping, almost like a home game.

I was going for the angle that these would be games Tech fans would want to come see and fill the seats. As a season ticket holder, I don't get to attracted by matchups like Duke and Wake, who by the way, we used to beat regularly.

OH MY LORD!!! We lost to Wake one time and suddenly we don't beat them or Duke regularly!?!? You have GOT to be kidding me!!

Oh, and yes, the stadium renovation was a great move. I went and saw the construction so far and man, the nortern stands are higher than Ozzy (sic) Osbourne on a saturday night in the 80's.

Jacket, I was referring to Wake, not Duke.

Wake beat us in 1999 also.

So in the last 4 meetings, we are just 2-2.

Plus last year we had to hold them off at the end to escape with a 38-33 win.

Ok, we misunderstood each other. I was only talking about the last few seasons. I should have clarified.

Ok, sorry bout that. I getcha. It's just that you can't beat everyone all the time. Wake isn't the Wake of old.
