Coach Chan Gailey said the QB position will not be open for competition when the Yellow Jackets resume drills in April. "A.J. is our starter," Gailey said.

"It's like a light just went on in his head," O'Brien said. "He has really stepped it up."

These are quotes made prior to the SVC. It is inconceivable that any respectable human being, coach or not, would make these kind of statements and then take the actions they did in the SVC. If Suggs is your QB of the future, why do you pull him at halftime when you are only behind by six points? Why not show him you truly believe in him and are not just giving him lip service? Pulling Suggs was the right thing to do but not after making such a statement before the game.

As for Bilbo even the announcers were impressed with how he inspired the team. (Speaking of the announcers, where did ESPN find these clowns?) They even stated “Bilbo has fired up GT, FS and the fans.” I agree. The game went to a whole new level of excitement when he came in. Unfortunately Bilbo was destined to not live up to his true potential. For whatever reason CG has absolutely no use for Bilbo. He has not used him for any extended time all year. He has not worked with him in practice. The only things he has said about him are negative statements. i.e. He doesn’t know the playbook. You can go to the GT web site and read his bio or you may have listened to the announcers give it. The young man is an unbelievable athlete. He was even drafted by the Brewers right out of high school as a pitcher. It really baffles me when I look at his ability and CG and BOB’s absolute refusal to do their jobs and coach him. The best thing DeBo can do is transfer to another school where his talents can be utilized. Who could blame him?

Back to CG and his pre-game statements. For a man to publicly state what he did and then coach(?) the way he did proves he is not a man to be trusted. If he can’t be trusted he can’t be respected and he needs to go. In today’s AJC he states the QB job is open for competition including an incoming freshman. But is it really? Given how he has stayed with Suggs all year. Shouldn’t Bilbo be given a better shot than an incoming freshman? Or is the relationship between CG and Bilbo too far gone? Again further proof that CG is not a man of integrity.

The embarrassment of losing to an average team in the SVC simply closes out a dismal and inexcusable season of football on the flats. The lack of preparation for the entire season tells the world that GT is not committed to competing in any area, academics, graduate studies or any other endeavor. Some of you will disagree with this statement but his is the perception we are displaying and like it or not: perception is reality.

Dave Braine has chosen to remain totally silent in regard to all GT sports. The Athletic Department has gone into hiding since the UGA embarrassment. Don’t you think we the paying fans, the financiers of the Athletic program deserve some sort of communication? The entire athletic staff has given proof as to the reasons we need an immediate complete change of personal from top to bottom. If the Athletic Board and President’s office continue to remain in seclusion then the change needs to extend to them as well.

I have stated many times why I love to win that is not my primary reason for supporting my beloved school. I have always believed GT to be above reproach and believed without reservation that all programs at GT were be of the highest quality, integrity and honor. The current AD, coaches and administration have lost sight of this vision.

I have been purchasing tickets to GT sports for over 30 years. I can truly state that if no changes are made I will not again purchase a single ticket. I cannot continue to send my very limited funds to a program that is not committed to excellence. I will send this money to my high school alma mater (a private school) and let them use it on academic needs. While I may refuse to support them financially my love for GT will always be in my heart.

Well 68, if he transfers, I sure hope we don't have to play against him! THWG

<font size="2" face="Arial, Verdana, Sans-Serif">I know you are hurting right now like most of us but the paragraph above is a bit paranoid. Take a powder. What does GTAA have to do with academics and graduate studies of the institute?
Is it a vote of no confidence for Clough because of the football team? If you've got other criticisms of the admin then lets hear the facts in the "other" section.

Are you just trying to goad Clough into canning Gailey/Braine. IMHO we would ruin our recruiting year and sully our reputation by firing a coach after 1 year. He needs another year to show some signs of progress. BUT, Clough does need to deliver a tongue lashing to Braine/Gailey about showing signs of progress each and every day and that starts with recruiting right now...

While football is crashing and burning before our very eyes, other sports seem to be on an upswing. We owned UGAg in 2002 except for football. Doesn't look like the AA is totally asleep at the wheel though I would personally like to give Braine a piece of my mind...

GMC68, like a lot of us you are hurting. I believe it is time for everyone from Clough on down to take a long hard look at our programs and determine the level of commitment we want to them. If mediocrity or less is what GT is striving for then leave every thing as it is. If we want more then make some changes. Like Coca Cola did this week. They made some unpopular top level changes but the Board felt the company needed a different direction. I believe all the fans at GT feel the same about a change of direction. Changes are never easy but are necessary.

That was not a direct quote from Coach Gailey. That was Hollis's word. Is a direct quote from BOB though.

All I can say 68 is that you shouldn't put so much stock in what is in the papers. Coaches are like politicians, they are sending messages through the media. There is no telling what CG or BOB say to the players face to face.

I think the reason Suggs was yanked is in CGs hafltime comments. He said they called the pass because they had seen the safeties sneaking up and that left man to man on the WRs. Suggs was told to make the throw if he had someone wide open, but to throw it away if it wasn't there. Chan was furious that he made the throw. He said something to the effect that a guy who has played as much as AJ ought to know how to throw the ball away.
