Still have a chance to go to the ACCCG

It's not quite as bad as you guys are making it out to be.

Say, for instance, this scenario:

Us, UVA, Miami, and VT all end up with 2 conference losses.

Miami loses to us and VT, VT loses to us and FSU, UVA loses to Miami and VT, and we lose to UVA and BC.

This puts us in a 4 way tie for 1st place. Using the 1st tiebreaker we eliminate Miami and UVA because they are both 1-2 vs the field. This leaves only VT and us and since we beat VT we win the division.

Look at last year in the Atlantic division where there was a 4 way tie for first place. The way our division rivals' schedules play out I believe it is not out of the question we'll see 4 teams with 3 losses tied for first place. Even if we lose to Clemson we STILL have a shot as long as we beat VT and Miami.

All you guys saying the season is over are pathetic. There are a hundred different ways this season could play out. VT and Miami are the games we really need to win.

I can appreciate your optimism and the mathematical scenarios you have laid out --but honestly, if GT loses to Clemson and falls to 0-3 then there is a four game gap to be made up regarding UVA with only five conference games remaining.

I will say this --I hope that we're able to pull this thread up on 11/18 and say , 'Well I'll be damned --GTKyle was right!"

If UVA loses to VT and Miami and we beat VT and Miami we're still golden as long as UVA loses one more game. We can still win the division with 3 conference losses like Wake did last year.

I don't see UVA beating VT or Miami.

But I also don't see us winning out the division...or close to it even.

Hey, it could happen!

Ya gotta believe!

Look, there is GT in the lower right hand corner.

What you have to do is not even worry about the division. Especially at this point (0-2). UVA is improved and they get Wake, NCST, and Maryland from the other division. Let's just go win games and forget about the ACC for the time being. I'm not saying for Stingtalkers to not talk about it; that's what we do, but all this ACCCG talk amongst the players needs to cease for now too. None of this "we'll see BC again" garbage. Just win now and worry later.

Clemson is all that matters --this week.
For the players on the team...

We're not players and I can focus my energy on this game as well as other games if I please. What I say or post on this website has no bearing on the outcome of the game.

I will say that this is probably the most plausible scenario for us actually getting to Jacksonville.

I still say we beat UVA 9 out of 10 times. It took a lot of luck/bad execution for them to beat us and I say Miami and VT take care of them. What's left is VT beating Miami and FSU beating VT. The former is likely while the latter is at least plausible.

That just leaves, well, us winning out the ACC. Will it happen? Probably not. But it did take a crazy comeback including a FG block returned for a TD for Wake to get to Jacksonville.

Sure --as fans we can pontificate, elaborate, speculate, calculate, exaggerate, masturbate --whatever. From here on out --with exception to Army --the next game is the most important one.

It's just a cliched saying that I tend to use --wasn't directed at anything you have said.

There are lots of scenarios for us winning the division. There are even more scenarios for Duke and UNC to win it, which tells you a lot about our chances.

When you're not even half-way through the conference schedule and your team already has to start 'scoreboard watching' --that does tell you about your overall chances.

The moon will fall out of the sky before this particular team beats Clemson, Virginia Tech and Miami.
Technically the moon is constantly falling out of the sky at a rate equal to the inverse of its orbital period around the earth.

You know what, Kyle? Nice post.

I think I've changed my mind. Correction, I think you changed my mind. The ACCCG isn't out of the question, and the reason why is really quite simple: Miami and Virginia Tech both suck just as bad as we do.

Seriously, they're both wretched teams.

It's totally not farfetched that each could lose 2 in conference, and one of our two losses is cross-division, which actually helps us. The problem is we have to win out.
