to be a major player on a major team in the national spotlight. His reads are not perfect right now, but when he delivers the ball, that is a major Div 1a throw. He really has what the coaching staff is looking for as far as temperment, ability & composure is concerned. Once he has the handle on options at the line of scrimmage, which he did more of yesterday, he will be very good.
AJ has what it takes to lead the team & is unquestioned by the team at this point. He does need to improve & U can see he has the ability to do this. That dicey swing pass to Watkins on 3rd & 2, late in the 4th qtr, had big time mustard on it & was perfect, getting us the 1st down & contolling the clock & game. He got us a W over a big time Mtn West, nationally recognized, very potent BYU team.
The improvement of his crisp passes, tight spirals & mostly dead on accuracy, are apparent to me. He's just not noticing the coverages as well as he will be doing in the very near future. Suggs will take on more resposibility each week & could be the preseason all-ACC pick going into next yr. AJ will have a major breakout game very soon & very possibly this wk @ NCar.
I have NO PROBLEM with AJ taking every snap in most every game, he's that good. Heck, we lost the Clem game on maybe the worst Special Teams play I've seen in 40 yrs of watching & listening to Tech games. Suggs is still gonna take us to that 11-2 season.

What are you smoking? Maybe what you said was all tongue and cheek stuff, but if not, please post what mind-altering drug you have discovered.

Serious question:
What would it have hurt to sit Suggs down for one series in the first half? Bilbo could have run a few safe plays, while O'Brien gets a chance to talk to Suggs and get inside his head, calm him down, & point him in the right direction.
.
Why play Bilbo so much in the first 2 games, but not play him any in the next 2? It is not fair to either QB. Suggs obviously could have used more practice in the first 2 games, and Bilbo gets the not-so-subtle hint that he is not far enough along yet.

Take off your rose-colored glasses, and answer that.

Ghost, you have been watching the same Tech QB as I. The guy threw two lollipops that was intercepted and another was thrown over the receivers head for still another interception. When BYU had us backed up on our one yard line he had an open receiver and threw the ball out of bounds although the receiver caught it. On another occasion we had third and 12 and he completed a pass behind the line of scrimmage for a two yard loss. On third and long the ball must be thrown downfield if you hope to have a winner. I don't want to belabor this point but he did the same thing against clemson on several occasions and it
leads to frustration by his teammates. He locks on to one receiver without scanning the field and this leads to interceptions. I hope i'm wrong but I don't see us beating many good teams if he persists in these bad habits. It is definitely not encouraging. What bothers me most is that the deeper we go in schedule the worse he looks. Not a good sign.

Ghost,
Smoking nuttin, yet. Suggs actually has pretty decent numbers so far. 120.74 QB efficiency, 47-84 completions (56%), 4 TDs & 4 ints, 146.5 ypg & we ave 30.8 pts/gm. Godsey had 2 less than mediocre games in his 1st 2. Suggs is NOT on the level Godsey finished at, yet, but will get there.
Wouldn't hurt a thing, imo, to rest AJ for a series & let DBo in. May help Bilbo if we need him later. Same could be said for EVERY single position we have, except DT. We used NO D substitutes, other than DT, except when Houston came in & Wright went out. We used NO subs on Oline or TE (Foshi & Heller). We NEVER got past our 3 receivers. GT does not sub very much, except in blowouts, when we are very generous.
It's a blatant message to DB that he's not ready & coaches have surely already gone over these messages with him & the reasons why.
Was it fair that JH got nearly all the snaps & Godsey got nil? Was it fair that Godsey got all the snaps & Hall got stugatz? Was it fair that Rivers was still in a 58-0 game & his backup wasn't playing at all?
The #1 QB IS the #1 QB & coaches are very reluctant to pull their #1 guy in a tight ballgame or any ballgame, for that matter.

Sorry Ace but Suggs has had more than enough time to show his stuff. He has normally been the recipient of very good field position and has had a TOP RB to take the pressure off him(although BOB has certainly not been a great help in play-calling).
You may be right but the odds are long that we are going to see the improvement you envision in time enough to save this season.I will be the first to apologize if he turns it around. If we do better than 7-5 he will be the reason.
