T.J. Pridemore
ILB | 6'2" 230
Hometown: Buford, GA
School: BufordHigh School
ESPN Grade 76
Evaluation: Pridemore offers good size and strength at the linebacker spot. Plays mainly outside in high school, but is projected as an inside run stuffer in college. He is best in between the tackles, using his physicality and bulk to step up and fill the hole. Plays downhill with square shoulder pads, and shows great short-area burst on the football. Does not make the quickest run/pass reads but takes very few false steps. Plays with a motor and flashes decent speed for his size when chasing to the sideline. Can get through the trash, uses his strength to shed and run through would-be blockers. Adequate in coverage, but shows the short-area range that is needed in a middle backer. We feel that most of his attributes may best suit him to play the middle in college. At times, he is high, stiff and a bit immobile playing in space. Needs improvement redirecting and turning laterally, especially after miss reads. At times, he needs more fluidity at the point of contact as well. He often meets ball carriers and blockers high with little knee bend. This lack of proper leverage will show at the next level where he won't be able to out-physical blockers as easily. Needs to show hand technique and more athleticism getting through the wash as well. Pridemore is best as a straight-line run stuffer who can use his short-area explosion and range to be a presence in the middle. Could potentially put his hand down at the next level.
Pridemore would be a phenomenal addition to an already outstanding recruiting class. Hope he comes to Tech…;)...:D
