No Taafe was never at Tech that I now of. He was in the CFL I think when Friedgen hired him. He had some type of drinking or similar event that really hurt his reputation.

That was Charlie Strong, NOT Charlie Taffe. Taffe was never considered or rumored. I don't think Strong was considered by our AD, but it was speculated that he should be a candidate.

Taafe's name did surface for a job, I do remember that.

He was one of those that was being talked about although I don't think he ever interviewed. Many were excited about his offense. By the way, another that was being talked about at the time was the coach at Middle Tennessee State whom was just fired I believe.

His name rolled around but was considered 'racy' because of his DUI incident. Good coach, though. Just not good enuff for TECH. Prolly belongs in the pros or on Mike Price's staff at UTELL. Once a college coach has hit the moral brick wall it's usually time to move on.
