I am tickled to win this one and the crowd was electric today late in the ballgame, so I hate to criticize on a day the team responded from some serious early adversity....

...but,

We have to tackle better. I think I saw someone mention this is the 3rd straight game where we have missed at least one big tackle, allowing a big play (several last week). You never know what could happen these next 3 games. NCST is no Clemson, but they are always a tough team to play, especially in Raleigh. Getting our defense off the field on drives, and tackling and running through the ball carrier will be key in that game.

As always, GO JACKETS!

I ain't naming names but that one kid would be fired from the worsus dook dee doo-doo.

Wouldn't make HS ball.

I defer to Coach Tenuta. Are ya just having too much fun up in the press box, ya big ape? If ya like I can come do your job like a man. Bee no problem.

WAKE UP !!

Gnats, sorry, but I don't understand your post on so many levels. :ugh:

I thought our tackling up front was SO MUCH better.

There were two long plays. One run and one pass that the Miami player just out hit the safety. That was disappointing.

The Olsen TD was a great play on his part. We tried to stand him up and strip the ball. He is too much of a man for that to work. I think Avery was playing above himself after the forced fumble.

And, you have to admit, that was NFL level play. That play turned the game. How often do you see someone strip and recover like he did. Plus he did that against Leggit and he is no slouch.

Pat Clark had the interception. Avery had the sack on Wright causing the fumble. At least five of the sacks, were coverage.

With what we had on paper in the secondary coming into this season. Sitting here this AM, I am exstatic with the play of the secondary. I think you have to look at execution and making plays. This week we made more big plays and executed better than Miami. Last week we didn't do it with Clemson.

I just hope we get to play Clemson again. And, the results will be different.:fingersx:

Are you still drunk? That post makes absolutely no sense.

The biggest issue I have is with our DBs. They have to at least get in the way and hold on for help. Way too many wiffs.

I thought defense had a much improved game, but there was some arm tackling going on that just want cut it.

This is the worst tackling secondary that I've seen in some time.

I'm not sure if the worst was when they let the TE just throw both of them off or when one safety came up on what looked like a sure tackle for minimal gain on a screen pass and flat missed the RB entirely.

I think that our zone defense sometimes has our guys playing too loose. If key guys don't get the open field tackle, big plays can happen. Our speed is better than last year, but open field tackling is a problem. No more than other teams though.

If that was all Roberson has to offer when comes to tackling a tight end after making a catch and preventing a TD then he needs to go find another sport. He made some other nice plays yesterday but on that last Miami TD his effort was pathetic. If it were earlier in the game I'd bench his backside. But because we're thin in the D backfield I don't think I'd have a choice.

The capacity of our fanbase to only remember bad plays is astounding to me.

It's astounding to me too... worst tackling secondary in some time? How about the secondary in 2000, 2001, 2002 or 2003? Ask yourself again, exactly why did it seem like we were never safe on 3rd and 17 situations back then? Poor tackling in the secondary. I'd argue that this bunch has a great chance to be the BEST tackling secondary I've seen at Tech in some time. The plays you're talking about and thier play during the Clemson game are aberrations.

Apparently you didn't follow Tech football from 00-03. Muyres, Collins, Butler, and Landry were some of the best tacklers we've had at the safety positions.

We always used to have one corner who just couldn't tackle at all back then(Jamara Clark, Marvious Hester). But, the reason we were giving up big plays wasn't tackling. It was a lack of footspeed and cover skills back then.

I thought everyone celebrated a bit too early after we went up 30-16. After Roberson blew the tackle and they scored with so much time left, I was sure we had eased up too soon.

But, looking at the play on tape today, Roberson hit him pretty good high, but the DB originally covering the TE was rolling around Avery's legs. He really couldn't finish the play. Their guy made a good play, and the effort was better on our part after taking a closer look.

I didn't think our tackling was too terribly bad. Certainly not Clemson bad.

We called it the "Bill Curry School of
tackleing" then can Teddy Roof and tackling got worst.
Some think you tackle with their arms, it is a body tackle in Div 1.

If we can only give up 1 TD per game with some sloppy tackling...and the only TD comes in mop-up play in the final minutes against a CB that is filling in to rest our starting free safety...than I will take it in all 13 games!!!
