I just bought tickets for the UGAy game in Athens. Does anyone have advice for tailgating there? Two years ago I bought a parking pass on ebay which gave us a nice spot a short walk to the stadium. I wouldn't mind walking a bit further to save money, but I don't want to hike across town. The parking passes don't come up very often, but I saw one in the railroad lot for $150. After paying for tickets, I don't want to spend that for just a parking pass. I'm starting to feel good about this game and I want to make the most of it.

well this reminded me to sign in and get my tickets and the damn things are already gone. I guess I should pay attention to deadlines... this sucks hard.

Advice for tailgating there? Urinate on as much university property as possible.

Don't give any more money to ugaggers than the absolute minimum you have to give to attend.

A pointer for post-tailgating:

Keep the GT paraphernalia on your car to an absolute minimum. If not, there's a good chance you'll come back from the game to find your car has been keyed or worse.

A Clempsun buddy of mine found this out first hand in 2002.

Well, yeah, that's a given. The trick is to break into the stadium to piss on the uga graves, then you've got something worth bragging about.

Yes, everything needs to come off BEFORE you leave your tailgating and go to the game.

North Campus. And set up early.

You can park behind Downtown (northside) and should be able to find a pay lot.

Don't. Show up near game time, and leave as soon as the game is over.
agreed... I couldn't stand to be in that place more than i had to be to watch the boys play football... i will never go to athens after two trips there

Two years ago we tailgated at a high school (Clarke County High?) about a mile from the stadium. It was the "tailhook" location listed on the Hive. There was plenty of room and the GT RV crowd was there. In fact, most, if not all, the people there were GT fans. The school was open for the use of restroom facilities. All in all, a very good tailgating experience. Too bad the game experience didn't match it.

I've had window flags ripped and broken off, magnets stolen, and once had all 4 tires deflated (after the win in Athens in 2000).

No good for parking, but... the building immediately across Sanford Dr. is the Tate Student Center. On the south side of it, next to the parking lot, is where they have "the dog walk". That whole area needs a good dousing of "keep off".

Just imagine: UGA VII's handlers are trying to stage him for the players to walk by and he's fighting the end of his leash trying to get the hell away. :laugher:

Maybe someone could bring one of those ultrasonic whistles to the puppy walk...

You could park at Stegeman Coliseum, as that distance is not a bad walk at all. It's been a few years, but I used to take in one game a year with a buddy of mine who is a UGA season ticket holder; he had the tix and I paid the parking, and we normally parked at either Stegeman or North Campus. Both are closer than CCHS.
