Need to run the stereo and the sterro only for about 8 hours. Don't have a generator.

Any ideas?

can get much much cheaper ones than that at Walmart... they won't put out that kind of wattage but you'd be pretty hard pressed to get anywhere near that.

I got a marine battery + 750 watt inverter at walmart for around $150 total earlier this year, and I think I went a little overboard with the wattage, and we run a tv from it. With running just a stereo, Im not sure what kind of power you'd need but I can't see it being near that much.

Peck,

I'm no enginner, but if I get a seperate marine battery how go I recharge it? How many hours of use do you get out of it on the tv?

If you have a home battery charger/starter unit thats the best way, can put it on trickle charge and let it go.

We havent pushed it to its limits this year, the good folks in gt housing have been providing us with current... whether they know it or not, ha! :nono: I did run the numbers on the thing when I got it, and strained something in my head trying to do it, but with my setup (best invertor/battery that they had at walmart) we figured that we could run a tv and a dish network box for about 5-6 hours, and those were conservative numbers.

As for the quick start thing, would work, but probably not as long. Marine/deep cycle batteries are designed to put out less amps over a long period of time, while that is probably desgined to pump out a lot really quick and wouldn't have nearly the capacity... I won't swear to that though.

How big of a stereo do you want to push? Might be best to grab a cheap boombox type thing and run it off a couple sets of D batteries for the day

What I have is a little boom box that plays tunes off a USB Drive. Nothing fancy, small little guy, only about 8 inches tall

Check it out here: http://www.myisymphony.com/products_m1.htm

I was going to go with the old school DCells but I check it this morning and realized it's AC only.

The specs say: Power requirements 120AC, 60Hz
Power consumption 80W

Found a 500 Watt Inverter for 28 bucks at Sams...that seem ok? If so I'll run by there after work tomorrow before I get to class. Didn't know if 500 was powerful enough.

If I get a Battery, what size? I don't want to rely on the car battery since I'm not sure we'll be close enough to the car. So I was going to grab a battery at CostCo but I want to get one powerful enough to keep the tunes going for at least 8 hours.

Thanks for all the help guys!
