I see a lot of people getting a little too afraid about Saturday's game vs. VPISU, a la 14+ win for the turkey's in which defense is the main contributor for the pick.
First off, the defense in the first quarter, yes I'll agree that that defense won't cut it. But....(there is always a but).....let's take a quick gander at the second half defense @ FSU and as Paul Johnson said during his post game interview, "things are not always as bad as they seem":
Yards given up: 125-145
Turnovers forced: 2
Scoring margin: GT up 21-3 until 4:14 left in the 4th.
Sacks: 2
I don't know about you guys, but that's pretty solid.
Let's also not forget we were without Egbuniwe who was really starting to add some pressure opposite Morgan. We were also starting a true freshman in Cross (who will be great one day with more reps).
Let that sink in, before we start predicting wins and losses.
Further, with the type of defense (not causing the pocket to collapse and Taylor to get outside) VT plays into the GT defense a tad.
