Not required to be a fan.

The post is about fans, not students/alumni.

Relevance of your post?

You can be a fan and not go to the school. I totally agree. I'm a Michigan fan and didn't go there. Didn't mean to give the wrong impression.

Werd. And people wonder why we have so few sidewalk fans.

Sense of arrogance that school attendance is relevant to being a fan of a football team. The football players happen to go to school at Tech. The situation is not "The tech students happen to play football."

Sorry to be an asshole about it, but it's a pet peeve of mine (for obvious reasons)

I don't get what is being discussed here. Of course you don't have to have gone to a school to be a fan of it. I became a GT fan when I was in fourth grade. To this day I have never enrolled at Tech.

This thread seems to have lost its focus. It's currently talking about alumni/students vs other fans when it should be ridiculing the complete silliness of all things UNC.

Ramses works on his image, performing a snatch-and-run abduction of a small student in order to earn some street cred for his meanstreak

Seems like some photoshopping could dress them in UGA attire. Then again, it might be quicker to just take a camera over to Walmart.

Normally I don't chime in on these arguments. I love all sidewalk fans for one reason. They can choose to be a fan of anyone they want to and they chose GT over schools like UGA, FSU, UF, UT, or Bama. To me that says a lot.

That said, typically its the alumni that has certain heart strings attached to their alma mater unlike the sidewalk fans, and for that reason, its more difficult for them to be overly critical of their team because utlimately GT sports, and the Institute are one in the same. Whereas for most sidewalk fans, its all about the sports team and only the sports team.
