Tashard Choice pregame lockeroom peptalk

chills, hopefully the "gotta win" attitude will continue through the rest of the season and the boys will have a record to match their effort.

The one problem I see is how do you muster that type of emotion week in and week out. You're bound to come out flat, especially against weeker opponents. Hopefully we have enough talent and discipline to take care of business when our emotion ebbs.

We better hang on to some of it for Maryland.

And we'll need some for the "take Nix back to school" game the following Saturday. Well, maybe not.

Personally, I think we win the Miami game even if we don't score a single point on offense. I'm pretty sure we'll get at least four safeties (8 pts), nine fumbles returned for touchdowns (63 pts) and eleven interceptions run all the way in (77 pts).

So I figure it'll be something like 148-0. Heck, our game against Miami might even have something in common with our 222-0 game against Cumberland. No, I don't mean the score, I mean that its entirely possible that neither team gets a first down.

CPN --> :bash: <-- CJT

I only wish the game was in Atlanta.

With pregame focus like that it's baffling that we come out turning the ball over and causing stupid penalties. Our pregame focus has lacked the last 3 games. Spirit and emotion are important when being focused, but sometimes words are just words and you got to have your head in the game and leave the emotions out of it.

Don't get me wrong, I like seeing stuff like this, it means these guys have fire in their belly. But what I cannot understand is the lack of focus by many on this team.

The fumble was the result of a young QB trying to make something out of nothing. The center sometimes steps on the QB's foot. It happens. I'll bet Taylor doesn't try that toss if it happens again.

As for penalties, I attribute some of our holding penalties to the quality of ACC refs. Some crews call a lot of holding, some only call the most obvious holds. It takes a series or two to figure out which crew you've got.

The penalties that kill me are the illegal formations. That should have been worked out over the summer.

So are you saying that we've been focused the last three games coming out of the gate?

I thought we were focused against BC. They just had a good scheme for us (both offensively and defensively). We adjusted, but it was too late. BC beat us. If you were going to design a team to beat us, using a team with comparable talent (i.e. not USC/LSU), it would look like BC. They are a passing team that can run if needed. But mostly they are a short pass offense. Their defense gives the pass to stuff the run.

I didn't get to see the Virginia game and have no idea how we didn't start by covering the TE.

I thought our focus was fine against Clemson. I just think our red zone offense blows. If we are really going to be a college version of the NY Giants, we are going to have to accept slow starts and big drives only late in the game.

I still have no idea how our center got called for holding on a running play. Or how you call a block in the back on a fair catch.

Having to much SWAGGER!!!!!!!!! is like having two cocks. It’s only a problem when buying pants.

I think the focus was there, but it came later in the game. And I agree, our red zone offense blows. In fact, I'd be willing to say the entire offense blows and if it wasn't for Choice and Dwyer, we'd be sucking hind tit.

One thing I did like seeing against Clemson was the toss sweep. If we are incapable of passing, Grant and Dwyer can at least stretch the field laterally.

Now, I would like to see a handoff to the fullback in the I-formation. I suspect it would be a 5 yard play.

Or 2006 Clemson.

I'm going to go with "because we were using our linebackers (you know, the TE coverage guys) to blitz."

Well if wishes were fishes, I'd like to see triple option with Nesbitt.

That would be pretty sweet. You could do double penetration and not need the extra dude in the scene. Better yet, you could piss and have sex at the same time.:laugher:

I thought most of the TE catches were in the first quarter. Since I know that JT blitzed all game, what changed?

Great video.

Maybe demjackets knows, but how do these guys on youtube get these videos? Are they insiders?

The only people in the locker rooms are the coaches, players, training staff, Dan, some Assoc AD's, and then sometimes TV camera's are in there if Chan gives them the ok, I'm guessing thats where this came from, I know in South Bend a TV camera was in there filming that pep talk. I don't really remember seeing anyone with a camera this last week though. The way it was edited means it wasn't just a student assistant taping it, they will probably use it for next weeks game on TV like they did for the Notre Dame one.

Ahh ok. The only game I've seen on TV so far is the UVA one.
