I think that he has the ability to be a better back than PJ. Why? I think that he's going to be a little more durable due to his size and I'm very confident that he's going to be a better blocker.
I rewatched the UGA game on DVR and during our last drive TC pancaked a guy(I mean just flat ran over a guy) in the flats opening up a HUGE run for Reggie. I really think he's going to turn into an animal next year.
He also had a monster game against Miami. Heres to two more years of TC. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cheers.gif Any thoughts?

I think TC will be a better back primarily because of his speed. He's a little smaller IMO but still carries a punch in the hole, but what sets him apart is what he can do with a little room to operate. He's shiftier and that speed advantage is hard to overlook. That said, I think we need to spell him more than we did PJ and use more situational substitution. If healthy Grant should get some time and we need to involve our FBs more.

Hey I LOVE this kinda thread

Keep it coming guys! Tashard was a pleasant surprise to say the least this year. Hard to think that we'll be doing as much between the tackle running with him like we did with PJ. That would surely subject him to injury quicker given his size. Of course it SEEMS he's a bit more durable than PJ. It will be interesting to say the least to see what we do with our running backs this year. With TC's speed, he'd be able to pick up some serious yards on those dump off screens that Reggie/Chan are so fond of.

I do wonder how often we'll actually do that between the tackle running this season. We DO need to do it given that most of the defenses we play are speedy. We NEED to go north and south some to be successful.

What do y'all think?

Re: Hey I LOVE this kinda thread

That's a damn good idea. I think that with our maturing o-line that we'll be a little more capable of some smash-mouth between the tackles running. Don't forget about our boy Cox gettin through there too. But, I like him making those bad-ass catches in the flats too.
All-in-all though I think that TC is going to bowl over people a little more than PJ has in the past. I think that he's a little less shifty but more of a tackle breaker. I wanted to see more of him during the UGA game because I believe he was the one of the main reasons we won @ Miami. Can't wait to see him as the #1.

Re: Hey I LOVE this kinda thread

I certainly agree that TC can be a fantastic back for us. He showed a lot in a limited role this past year.
However, I'll have to think about your running style comparison of him to PJ. I don't think PJ was a "make you miss me" back.

To be a better blocker than PJ means something. PJ was pretty good in his own right.

But I agree with the durability - to have a guy out there every game will be an improvement at the RB position. I also feel the same about Robertson replacing Henderson at DE - Henderson was a great player at DE. We just couldn't count on him to be in the lineup week in, week out.

Don't really agree on your assessment of TCs running style although I do think he will be a better all around back than PJ. He's shiftier than PJ IMO but he still has the ability to run people over when he needs to. He's a slasher with more speed than PJ and I think he's a better receiver from the little we've seen. The biggest difference to me is that PJ would make somebody miss but get caught. TC can take it to the house.

Yep, there was one PJ broke against Wake where he was caught from behind. Hopefully, TC will "take it to the house"

Re: Hey I LOVE this kinda thread

Tashard Choice is going to be an excellent back for Georgia Tech for the next two years. I agree that we need to use situational substitution with him. This may worry some as to who will step up in this substitutional role. I have always thought that Grant has as much talent as anybody on the field. When P.J. went out last year due to injury, it was RaShaun that kept the running game going, IMO. I'd would definitely do my best to use him in certain situations, where the scat-back kind of style might be in order.

Whatever happens, I'm not worried about our running game, especially with the O-Line maturing.
