Louisiana Tech plays Boise on Wed. night on ESPN this week. I would not expect much from Bennett based on his season so far, but could be interesting to watch.

Be interesting to see him in another uni. When's the last time a prominent Tech player defected and wound up starting for another team? Can't say we miss him or anything but seems like a good kid.

Dunno about football, but Zam Frederick in basketball and Micah Owings in baseball were two big names that transferred and ended up starting for other teams.

Interesting that he's playing the other team recruiting him hard four years ago. Personally I am looking forward to seeing how he does. I wish him the best.

Wasn't there a QB that transferred in the early Gailey years and ended up starting for another team, did well, and got drafted?

Micah might have been the most important transfer from Tech in a long while, at least in terms of how much it mattered at the college level. He transferred before the 2005 season, and we subsequently won 45 games and the ACC before losing in the Super Regionals. We were the second seed nationally, with Tulane at no. 1 led by... Micah Owings. And that was a pretty darn good Tech team anyway, even without him.

In another note, why in God's name is LA Tech on national TV 2 times this year? I know it's only a Wed. nighter, but still.

1) Tater is a GT alum. I will cheer him.

2) Big name GT alum xfer: Martice Moore.

Funny how Taylor will be playing against Boise St. a team he turned down in favor of GT and Chan Gailey. I wonder if he would take that back? At the time Boise State's coach was Dan Hawkins.

Tom Luginbill transferred to Eastern KY U and did very well there. He's now a top College Football recruiting analyst for ESPN.

I think Hawkins' son is his QB at Colorado now. That would be no fun at all, competing against the coaches kid for your spot.

Jermaine Crenshaw
Zach Pillar
Tim Harvey
Danny Pearson (sp?)

don't know if they are considered prominant or not, just saying.

Decapitate duke.

How would he be competing with Hawkins' son at Colorado if he ended up going to Boise State?

One might assume that Hawkins' son would have gone to Boise.

Regardless of how good he is now, was Hawkins' son really considered a major BCS QB prospect or did he get offered by Colorado because of nepotism?

I do not know.

Well, there was also that bozo whom our head coach
informed we'd win "...with or without you."

Which we did, by the way. :D

Fergot about Andy. One of the ones that got away. Won a national title at Delaware, didn't he? Also, a beesball player IIRC.

(Luginbill from the era we don't want to talk about <cough> Donnie Davis <cough> the unmentionable one;)

I had been thinking starter to starter but good examples all.

Al Pena too...came here for a spring, before transferring to Okie State.

We have also been the beneficiary of some of those:

John Dewberry
Dorsey Leavens
Tashard Choice

...more to be sure...
