I'm thinking/hoping it's just a sprained knee. It didn't look as though it was a tear type injury. The sideline guy talked to his mother and she said it isn't as bad as everyone thinks but i'm sure she's got some wishful thinking too.

Guess we'll need to wait for the tests.

Either way we still had 292 yds rushing. And Grant looks like he's running with confidence. It's so nice to see him get into the open field.

Did I hear correctly that Grant left with a high ankle sprain? If so, that's a 4 week+ recovery period.

I too hope that Duece's injury isn't all that serious...however I just read an article on ramblingwreck.com saying that the GT medical staff told Gailey that Choice's injury was not serious but that it not minor either....so don't know exactly what to make of that either...

From the post-game interviews with Wes:

Choice - not minor, not major - like ramblin_man writes.

Grant - I didn't hear the entire interview with him, but there was no talk of injury. Only talk about who will pick up the slack for Deuce. I got the impression that he can step in. I assume this would mean immediately. Glean what you will from this. It is as nebulous as you will read anywhere else, right now.

IF TC can't go we will see a wide open play book vs VT. 2 weeks to prepare a wild look. VT off dosent scare me if we can contain Their QB.

Tyrod Taylor's supposed to be pretty good. He'd hurt his ankle but i'm pretty sure he'll be good to go when he plays us.

I'm excited to check VT this thursday. I've heard they're playing better ball than the games that I saw. ECU and LSU. and we'll def. hear/see about tyrod.

My guess is a torn MCL or torn cartilage. That's not too serious but not too insignificant.

The protecting of the injury could also be that he doesn't want his NFL chances hurt and prefers positive speak.

It doesn't matter. He was our warrior and I'm worried without him.

If I was Chan, I'd put Mr. Roddy Jones in there because I think he reads blocks better than Dwyer right now. I just don't see us beating VPI and UGA with "mighty mouse" and "outside runs only".

Is it really worth burning Roddy's redshirt at this point in the seaon? I don't think so, its not like we're competing for anything other than a bowl right now.

If we had an offensive coach that understood more than hand the ball to the tailback....we'd be 7-0....PERIOD!!!!

The "protecting" of the injury is more likely that they don't know exactly what it is yet. No MRI results to confirm any suspicions.

That's a completely untrue statement. We have a lot of problems on defense, and our receivers and qb have been holding back the passing game almost as much as the coach.

He couldn't walk on it at all. Tests at the stadium would check for major stability. You can have stability but still something got damaged and is in there causing pain. He could have walked on a knee sprain normally.

And the high ankle sprain could mean the end of the college career for Grant too. I have a high ankle sprain and it's a year later and still it's not 100%.

Regarding Roddy, if I am the head coach and my job is on the line, partly because I am thought of as not being aggressive enough in the moment, I'd pull his redshirt very quickly.

We can still have a big year this year and this is the team to do it with. And truthfully, we can always keep adding runningbacks in recruiting. Burning a year isn't as big a deal as at QB, etc.

Grant hasn't said a word about his injury in several interviews after the game, so I don't know where this "high akle sprain" crap is coming from. We have enough at RB for what we need to do.

Unlike Choice, Grant's injury was obvious and where they were icing it was also obvious. I'd guess that it was a high ankle sprain. But you bring up a good point, we really don't know and of course there are different degrees.

We have a lot of problems on defense, and our receivers and qb have been holding back the passing game almost as much as the coach.

Our defense is ranked in the top 10 nationally in scoring, rushing and total defense. We are 33rd in passing defense, if that is what you mean by "lot of problems."

We are 112 in passing efficiency, and 107 in passing offense. We have been in the bottom quartile in passing efficiency ever since Gailey has been here, except last year when we were in the bottom 1/3. As long as he in charge, our QB and receivers will always be "holding us back" because they are not taught how to execute the passing game, nor are they put in schemes that allow them to succeed. Gailey's response to offensive deficiency is always the same: 'we have to run the ball better.'

I sometimes wonder if GT fans watch other teams play. Our fans seem to be as out of touch with modern college football as our coaches are. The only explanation is that our fans don't watch other teams so that they know what is going on in college football 2007.

This is dead on! Gailey is about ball control, clock mgt, and field position. He should (IMO) continue to be this way when he's got JT as DC.

Jacketup, I wonder if you watched the BC game. You seem to be a bit out of touch with our team this season, and the way Matt Ryan fed us our asses on a platter. No amount of offense from us could have stopped the way they moved the ball. I'm not saying we couldn't be much better than we are right now, we would probably be 6-1, but to say we would have won the BC game with a better offensive coach is just ludicrous.

Likewise, if you have watched some of our wins(namely, Clemson and Miami), you would notice that our secondary consistently gets burned, play after play. When you are playing mediocre to good teams, that isn't always a problem. But when you play a very good team(such as BC), they will make you pay for it. We could be much better than we are right now, but our team does have problems besides coaching, and if you can't see that I think you are just thinking wishfully. I, too, think Gailey needs to go, but he is not the only thing that ails our program this year.
