A couple of these teams have perhaps played stronger competition than GT to this point --most have had a Jax St type team on their schedule.

rank - team - (overall record) - opponents combined records

19. South Florida (5-1) 18-14
20. Auburn (4-2) 15-14
21. Wake Forest (3-1) 13-9
22. North Carolina (4-1) 16-10
23. Michigan St. (5-1) 16-16
24. Pittsburgh (4-1) 13-14
25. Ball St. (6-0) 13-20

26. Wisconsin (3-2) 16-12
27. Tulsa (5-0) 11-17
28. Illinois (3-2) 17-9
29. California (4-1) 15-13
30. Northwestern (5-0) 10-16
31. TCU (5-1) 15-18
32. Georgia Tech (4-1) 17-9

It is ridiculous that Auburn, Pitt, Ball St, Tulsa and TCU are ranked ahead of GT.

Auburn has lost to the only two teams on it's schedule with +.500 records. Pitt, Ball St, Tulsa, TCU and N'western have each faced one team above .500 --GT has faced four teams above .500, three of those have one loss apiece.

I'm shocked that 4-1 Notre Dame doesn't have more votes than Tech.

31. TCU has Colorado St. next - that should be a loss.
30. Northwestern has Michigan State next - that could very well be a loss. MSU is ranked 23 so someone has to lose.
29. Cal is off.
28. Illinois - I don't understand this one. They're 3-2 with their only decent win over a crappy Michigan team. They have Minnesota this week - toss-up.
27. Tulsa - @ 1-4 SMU - They'll win easily.
26. Wisconsin has Penn St. this week. They'll lose - and lose bad.
25. Ball St. - 2-4 Western Kentucky - should be an easy win - could be close.

A big win (30-40 points minium) should get us ranked assuming no team below us pulls a big upset. A big win this week and a decent win next week vs Clemson will definitely have us in.

I don't want to be ranked before the climpsum game, it sets us up for crappy media if we were too lose.

31) Actually, Colorado State sucks so I'd pick TCU in that game.
30) Correct, and whichever team loses would fall below us (assuming we TCB, of course)
29) Maryland, My Maryland, why are you ahead of us Cal?
28) I always forget Minnesota has a D-1A team. They may be the most forgettable BCS league team out there.
27) Boring
26) Agreed, au revoir, Badgers
25) Don't you ever talk about the Hilltoppers that way... or do, I don't care.

Either we'll be in the top 25 going to Clemson or we'll be in the top 25 after beating Clemson. If two weeks from now, we're 6-1, get ready for a ton of positive press and the possibility for a big climb up the polls.

Heck, it's not really of the same magnitude, but remember how UGA became media darlings last November? It could happen to us. Especially in the (somewhat) misguided "just wait 'til next year" talk.

Until the girl Swofford moves on, the ACC will continue to get no respect. We are the third best conference right now but are still being treated like we're the 6th.

You're looking at it wrong. The teams ranked 26th and beyond are just as unranked as Tech. Most of them will lose before ever being ranked.

If GT takes care of GT's business, GT will be ranked.

Look at the schedule ahead. Plenty of opportunities to impress going forward. No impressive wins in the rear view mirror. Lots of impressive win opportunities looking forward.
