Virginia Tech, that is, last year. Don't recall if they fired Frank Beamer or Bud Foster.

You are actually comparing Frank Beamer to Chan da Man! Now you are looney.

You are right - Chan is much better.

Beamer's 1st 5 years: 2-9, 3-8, 6-4-1, 6-5, 5-6, Total 22-32-1, no bowls
Chan's 1st 5 years: 7-6, 7-6, 7-5, 7-5, 9-4, Total 37-26, 5 bowls

You are right - no comparison. Of course Gailey took over a team that went 8-5 the year before whereas Beamer took over a team that went 10-1 the year before.

IIRC, they did beat UVA.

I'm also sure UVA has won SEC Championships in 2002 and 2005 and finished in the top 10 most of the past five years.

UVA was 7-4 last season taking away the loss to VT.

UGA is 7-4 this season taking away their win against GT.

No. All Im saying is I would take an experienced Frank Beamer today vs an experienced Chan Gailey to take a team to the next level. Chan is a nice man, a decent head coach, who definitely needs help on offense and Pat Nix is not the answer-OBVIOUSLY- since he's the one supposedly helping Chan develop QB's, evaluate Qb's, and call plays. Chan is not a disciplinarian- FACT- and he admits it and thats fine. We need a disciplinarian I believe, and especially on Offense for precision and productivity reasons. Tenuta is on the field and in practice but he's not the HC and thats where the responsibility falls. There is no reason this year that we should have blown these 2 games. Chan's record over his 5 years in the last 4 games of the year is 7 wins and 12 losses (not including this year's Gator Bowl) It is how you finish. It is how you improve. And it is about getting to the next level. We have a new AD-that was the first thing we needed. Got it. We needed a new OC- and he still needs one. And we need a Championship. And we need to beat Georgia. In spite of Reggie-Gaileys handpicked qb, and despite of us not getting the ball time and time again to the biggest fastest WR we will ever have, we won 9 games. Thank you John Tenuta.

You are equating UVA and UGA? Seriously? It is a fascinating comparison you propose. I suppose a 7-4 Tulsa team would be UGA's equivalent as well...

IIRC, two times in a row in Athens we were winning the game in the fourth quarter only to have UGA drive to win the game against Nix's Offense.

I guess if you think the SEC this season is vastly superior to the ACC last season.

Regardless, I made the point because beating your rival makes everyone a little happier, and thus Beamer is less likely to be fired.

It certainly is the losses, but it's nearly as much if not more about how we lost that is so unbelievably ridiculous.
Makes it look like we choked when it really counted, and that is unforgiveable for it to have happened 3 years in a row.
That the same formula was mixed on Saturday could lead some to believe that this staff has an intestinal fortitude deficiency problem.

Actually prevent if you go back over the season I think the most crucial penalties we suffered were on the defense. Wake and ND come to mind immediately on their winning drives. Doesn't that fly in the face of your Tenuta's more of a disciplinarian theory?

I think we also had a few offsides calls against UGA, including a crucial one where UGA went from our eight yard line to our three yard line.

I don't remember too many offensive penalties, at least later in the year. I think there was one false start against both UGA and Wake, but I can't remember anything past that.

Just how exactly do you drive to win a game against another team's offense? Doesn't the D have to take a little blame for not stepping up at the end?

irony alert beej. I think he was making the point that while everyone blames the offense, the d gave up late scores in both losses. Of course, as bad as that felt the O should have had us safely ahead by then.

Wow it will be hard for Prevent to spin those facts.
