I am sure I will get flamed for this...but here it goes.

I am a bit confused. Many GT fans spend time year after year talking about how obnoxious UGA fans are....and other schools in the SEC primarily.

Yet...we win a game against UGA and I see posts bragging on multiple sites of face to face interactions where we mock a UGA fan, yell one of their or our slogans at them, one where someone started a fight, etc. etc.

This is really beyond belief to me. All you have to do is wear your darn gear and walk right by them...that is enough...nothing more has to be said. They know they lost...deep down they are concerned about coming years against us...they wonder if momentum has turned.

I got a call yesterday from a UGA colleague that finally had to end the wait. He talked a lot the past seven years...a very biased UGA and SEC fan...as I always lightly made my case for our Jackets and the ACC. In years past he would make a call, come to my office, or send in email shortly after their victory.

However...this year I did not return that favor. I decided to do nothing...and I have not been to that office all week. He said it was horrible...like when he was a child and was in trouble and his mother made him wait for his father to come home. he had to call to issue the congrats and end the inevitable when we would see each other in the office.

I do not share this because I am any better than anyone else...just to say you do not have to be mouthy about it.

Simply walk tall, wear your gear proudly, be humble in victory...do not stoop to their level.

I know the majority of GT fans are this way....I just see too many posts bragging of behavior thay many of those same people claim they hated about UGA fans.

As Coach Johnson said himself, act like you are supposed to win!

You know, I always thought when we won I'd call all my ugag friends and rub it in, but when we finally did (this is my first Tech win), I decided not to. I haven't said a word to any friends, didn't text or call, and I love that they know we beat them and I'm not bringing it up.

You're right that if we do that we're no better than the crap we complain about every year.

I just like wearing Tech stuff and smiling like I've done since Saturday.

+1,

After UGA scored their first TD on us Sat. my Uncle called singing "turn out the lights the party is over", then a friend of mine called and said the usual UGA crap. When the game was over, I called my uncle and just said good game and how we couldn't stop MOMASS and Stafford.

Any UGA fans in class, I go to GA State so we are pretty mixed, I just asked how their Thanksgiving was and didn't even mention the game, I could tell they were relieved.

If you go to the AJC there are some pretty crappy GT fans on there.

I haven't given any of my Ugag friends a hard time about it but then again, they never run their mouth at me. But I will say this...I've had some pretty harsh things said to me by Ugag fans so whenever I see or here the same thing coming from fellow Tech fans it doesn't bother me.

This is quite true --and this is the way I conduct myself. The win brings out an awareness. I wear my gear just like I always have, and I'll admit to carrying a subdued swagger about myself --nothing that can really be seen externally, it's more of an internal thing. But I have taken notice when I'm out and around people wearing UGA gear. I just go about my business and let my shirt, hat, whatever I'm wearing with the GT logo, Buzz, etc. do my talking for me.

We're all proud to be GT fans --and we've just got that much more to be proud about now. I'm a UGA grad --never a UGA fan, but a grad-- other than my love for GT athletics and respect for the Institution as a whole, one much smaller reason I never became a fan of UGA is because I could not stand a certain faction of the fan base --obnoxious, uneducated, stupid, embarrassing to the University. Who wants to be associated with that? Conduct yourselves with class, integrity, intelligence, that's what the Institute represents anyway --That's what being a Georgia Tech fan is about.

I just don't see the big deal or the big point to this.

There's one, big, broad rule: Don't be a classless asshole.

I've had Georgia fans on many occasions call out to me after a game in public places and as long as they're not being rude or insulting, I smile and play along.

If your personality isn't the type to say something to someone or to actively pursue rubbing it in for Georgia fans, that's great - but other people doing it isn't nearly as ridiculous and appalling as you're making it sound.

You'd have been miserable walking out of Sanford Stadium from the upper deck. People were yelling and cheering and saying "To Hell with Georgia!" out loud and all other sorts of insanity.

I have to agree here. I thought the best part about Monday was how perturbed the Georgia fans in my office were that I wasn't rubbing it in. They waited most of the morning for me to say something, then they finally came over and asked why I wasn't rubbing it in? I simply smiled and said I was content with a win. That ticked them off even more.

I have to admit I was very obnoxious leaving sanford after the game. Obnoxious = singing along with the band to the fight song as loud as I could and mumbling something about how awesome the SEC is.

Afterwards though I have had the same experiences. All my Ugay friends contacted me and were like "why havent you talked sh**, I know you've been waiting 7 years to do it?". I just kinda laugh it off and tell them we got lucky. It pisses them off even more.

Text message at halftime, "Who's in the toilet now"? I have no problem with smack talk. I agree with hivered.........with the fact that I won't have to talk any smack. All of my UGA family/friends have crawled under a big rock!

Sometimes the hardest thing to take from an enemy after defeat is someone being nice. After the win I just sat in my office all day, smiled, and did not mention the game.

You know I like to talk trash to my Ugag buddies most of the time, but this was different. I didn't bring my phone to the game. Mostly because I was hungover from Generals and the Loft the night before and forgot it, but I think it was a sign from god. During the game I was pretty quiet, again maybe because I was hungover and though I might throwup any second, but a little bit because I felt like this was special. I was in the tech section, but right below the mutt boxes so the whole game (including when we got the lead) the mutts where talking trash. Me and my buddies just ignored it. Then we won the game. I just turned around and looked at them. I didnt say a word. It was good enough. Then I walked down to the front of the section and just stood there for a good 10 minutes taking it in. I had to fight a tear or two there for a second.

I've been a Tech fan since birth so I've seen a couple of wins, but this one was different. I'm a fifth year at Tech and this was my last Hate game. The whole year I told my friends god owed me one. He wouldnt let me go 0-5. Sure enough here I am 1-4 and couldn't be happier.

After the game me and my buddies went downtown and we ran into some of my ugag buds and I didnt say a word. Just smiled. I havent been able to wipe that smile off my face since and that kills them more than any trash I could ever talk.

Well I just can't wait for the sharp spike in number of arrests made on Tech fans for suspected kidnappings and murders.

"We used to rib him a bunch about football stuff, but one day something happened in his head and all he did was gaze and smile with this sick, satisfied look on his face. I just.. I just want my daughter and my cat back.."

I would also like to note that when I am faced with a Appalachain State fan, I lose all class and have been known to give them a piece of my mind :ugh:

I think that it is even classier to be able to act the way that you say you have acted and not have to brag about it in multiple message boards (with the exact same message copied and pasted none the less). I'm all for good sportsmanship but I am also for a little good natured trash talking.

That's a different story. App State fans are a weird breed, LOL.

Ususally just showing them 6 fingers is plenty though.

(GSU has 6 National Championship, crApp State has 3)

after their first drive one of my Georgie friends texted me "ROFL". i texted back "good drive!"

i waited until monday, but then i texted him "he who ROFL last, ROFL best"

he had to laugh at that one even. now he is hoping CPJ goes to AU
