Tech starts practice before rest of ACC

Why would other teams wait as much as 2 weeks later to start practice?

That's interesting. Most teams are starting around the same date. August 4th is a monday so that makes sense for a lot of teams to start then. I'm glad we're getting in a few extra days of practice, though.

I don't know why FSU is starting so late. Maybe they are trying to avoid injuries because half their team is suspended for the first few games? :laugher:

Was my understanding that we are limited to a certain number of hours for practice, regardless of when we start. So, with us starting early, that means we would not be practicing as many days per week or hours per day as some of the later starters. Can anyone confirm/deny that?

Well, half the team will probably still be under house arrest. Maybe they need to wait until they can get enough paroled for a full practice.

Your start date is dictated by the date of your first game guys. It has nothing to do with what anyone wants to do, because most coaches would have started in June left to their own devices. That's one reason some of us liked moving Jax State to Thursday...it not only let us start earlier, it gives us two more days til the next game.

Thank you for using common sense.

The reason we get more practice is we opted for a Thursday night opener. Conversely, the reason we opted for a Thursday night opener is because we opted for more practice. Contrary to what the Alabama-Clemson HWFOists believe.

This is exactly why the Thurs night game was an excellent piece of strategery. This way we got the most reps possible before the BC game.

NCAA rule is 29 practices before first game. I also think NCAA mandates a certain number of "conditioning, helmet only" practices before pads can be put on, and limits amount of 2-a-days.
Practices/Scrimmages are 2 hours.
