With all this talk of players planning to leave due to the coaching change; does anyone remember the name of a GT linebacker who transferred to Miami when Bill Curry left for Alabama? I seem to remember part of his reason for leaving was that he wanted to win a championship, and thought Miami could do that for him. As I remember he was on the bench in Miami in 1990, so you know how that worked out.

I hope all these players know the grass isn't always greener, and will give CPJ a chance before bolting for the door. If I could say one thing to the players talking about leaving, it would be:

Don't be impetuous and make an immature decision based on Chan Gailey's dismissal. Making a poor decision to transfer somewhere isn't going to help Coach Gailey in any way whatsoever, and it will not hurt GT in the long run. Fact is, the person with the most to loose by your transfer is yourself.

The lb's name was Shane Curry

He was also tragically shot and killed.

I don't think that any player who leaves because of the changes should be admonsihed any more than PJ should be. After all he left Navy because he thought GT was more suited to fullfilling his own career goals. There are those who have NFL aspiartions and simply can't afford to be patient while GT Football gets it's act together under a new regime. Also, don't dismiss the possibility that players may not be leaving just because of PJ or a new offense. There is some disenchantment for other reasons. In addition ..one amongst them will leave because he knows academically he was not suited and does not want to focus on the books as much as he wants to just play football and sleep, so staying will only lead to Reggieitis.

is he a true freshman qb?

I wouldn't intend to admonish a guy who made a rational decision to leave; but I would challenge a guy who is making a decision before even finding out what the new coach has in mind. Whether he stays or goes he will be in a new program, new situation next year. As long as he is looking before he is leaping I don't have a problem. We've had guys leave in years Chan was staying too, sometimes it is the right decision.

What's this "gets it's act together" crap? Did you intend for that to sound as negative as it comes off?

Well, where ever this fellow ends up, I hope he 'gets his act together'. He has a great opportunity to get an education either at GT or somewhere and it sounds like he is going to blow it because he's lazy.

Players need to realize that coaches come and go. Look at all of the changes this year. Everytime a new coach gets hired it results in another opening of some sort. If RichRod leaves WV, look at all of his recruits, etc. Don't worry. It will all rinse out in the wash.
