Tenuta News?

I guess my wise crack wasn't noticed either.

Mea culpa. My bad for misunderstanding ;)

I agree that another DC will come along, but poor timing. We aren't in the best position to have a change of coach that happens to be our strength the past 2 seasons. Why would GT not offer to match salary or something? It isn't like he is taking a HC position at Michigan. Can we not pay to keep him just a bit longer?

I don't think money is going to be a reason to leave GT. I think, from having heard JT speak a few times, that the reason he would leave GT would be if he thought where he was going would give him a better opportunity to earn a head coaching position. If he left to go to Michigan (or anywhere else now that the DC position is filled there) I think it would be mainly because he felt it would put him on a bigger stage and possibly lead more rapidly to a better HC position.

JT hasn't kept it a secret that he would like to be an HC at a BCS school. I don't blame him one bit and I'm glad he has that desire because it is the kind of thing that makes him as good a coach as he is. And while I think the timing could be better I also think there isn't really a "good" time for a highly thought of coach to leave a program. On the other hand if he did leave (and remember that this is all speculation) then he would be leaving us in pretty good shape with some excellent football players and some excellent assistants with a program that has a highly thought of defense so we might be able to more easily draw talented defensive coaches here.

I also think Tenuta knows he has a shot at the GT HC position if\when CG gets booted. Might be worth staying another year or two for...

I think that is wise. You probably won't get 120% from your guys when they want to leave, especially if they had to turn down a HC position. Keep them as long as they want to.
