its being reported on Rivals.com that Tenuta will be announced as ND's LB coach.

thoughts??

Was that ever even an option for him?

That was my understanding. I forget the exact words, but it seemed he was given the option and decided to take his chances in the market. I suspect he was asked to make a commitment and not just hold the position while he looked. I also suspect he thought he had a top DC waiting for him elsewhere, which is why he declined.

Or that could have all been the official story. If he had stayed after being passed over for the HC job it might have been awkward. It also might have split the fan base if Johnson's first year has rough spots (as I suspect it will.)

I guess after scoring 17 points in 2 years on us, they wanted him on their staff.

Can't believe he ended up having to take a demotion...

Personally I think that I would have just taken a year off, watch his kid's last year of football and then get back into the fray and get a real job.

As much as I liked Tenuta, I'm kinda glad to see him gone. I just got the vibe that he might not have been a player coach. If I'm wrong, I apologize in advance. But after hearing what he did with the team prayer before the bowl game and such, it kinda irked me. Oh well. This is the first time I've even said anything negative about him actually. Am I wrong on this one?

Hope things work out for him with ND. You think maybe he's there to take the DC job if Brown moved on to be a HC (cause this guy seems to be moving up fast in the coaching ranks) or is this just him biding time til something better comes along? Maybe he was just wrong about being a "hot commodity."

Linebackers coach, what the hell?

Yeah, as I said, best of luck to the man. But he at least deserves better than to have a humongous fatass as your boss and to be at an absolute sh*thole right now. On the plus side, he will have excellent talent to work with. ND probably should have just hired him as their outright DC.

ever since I saw that post stating he was a big atheist (don't know if it is true or not) I have been down on JT.

Allegedly he was critical of Choice when he was praying.

Anyone who would discourage a young man from subscribing to a higher moral authority is a NEGATIVE IMO.

I was a supporter prior to that and if it is untrue please post accordingly.

It is ironic if it is true and then going to a catholic school.

He has been named Asst. HC/Defense. Will work with DC Corwin Brown. Brown likes coaching from the sidelines while Tenuta likes being in the booth. Should be a good match.

I'm with you on this one..

That was low class on Tenuta's part. He is a better fit at Notre Dame.

Don't forget that CPJ was interviewing after the Army game when their song was playing. Isn't that a BIG nono in the academy games? Not bashing anyone, but I will not completely base my opinion on a couple of questionable moments.

His kid's senior football season

Personally I think that I would have just taken a year off, watch his kid's last year of football and then get back into the fray and get a real job.

was last fall. His next son will enter high school next year, and there's a little one behind him.

Keeping Tenuta off the football field for a year is too great a task for ordinary man.

Congrats JT!

That anti-religion militancy ain't gonna fly there. I guess he's just going to shut up and take the paycheck. There's a hint of weasel there IMHO.

What's the deal with ND always being eager to lap up our moral defectives?
