I'm a huge football fan. I love sitting there and watching football all day saturday and sunday. I've been married for 3 months and my wife just did not understand this. I had to almost force her to come to the GT game this past weekend. It was a great day. Got to tailgate a little bit, meet some friends, go to YJA, buy tech gear from the book store, and witness one of the best games in BDS.

Reason I am posting is becuase I just received a text message from my wife that couldn't have made me happier. It read, "Hey i kinda want to go 2 another game some time"

Needless to say, I think my wife gets it now. The outcome of the game probably was the major influence in this so I have to say some luck played into it but i couldnt be happier. So thank you GT football for probably allowing me to get away with watching more football on the weekends and going to more games next year.

I feel you on this one. My girlfriend grew up near Athens and her sister goes to U(sic)GA, and I took her to her first game against MSU and she loved it. Next thing I knew I was taking her to the UVA game, when Nesbitt threw the last INT she said she didn't want to leave because there was still a minute left on the clock, so I spend the whole minute explaining the victory formation to her and justifying that's why I wanted to leave. :(

Then last week, during the FSU game she was jumping and screaming towards the end.

Looks like I saved one from UGA HELL!

haha nice. My wife wasn't really into it until the 4th quarter. She actually was cheering on the last play. Made a lot of progress through that game. When I told her we wouldnt be able to go to any more football games this year, she said we should try for a basketball game. The good news just keeps coming

My girlfriend has begrudgingly listened to me talk non-stop about GT football since we started dating in July. She has gone from "shut up already" in July to "can I go to the Miami game with you" now in November.
I think I'm finally rubbing off on her. Showing her pictures of Grant Field Saturday night at 7pm didn't hurt either.

I saved my current GF from the grasps of the cesspool also.

Long story short, she wants to get season tix next year for the both of us..

My wife has been committed after her first game 3 years ago! Hasn't even skipped a game outside being sick..

If you want to get your wife loving football, get her involved in tailgating. The women instinctively turn it into a competition on who can bring the better food, and everyone wins.

BINGO. You nailed it. My wife was so-so on going to football games, until we found a good tailgating group. Now she talking about going to the game all week. Only problem now is that she bothers me during the game to discuss what happened during the tailgate. One step at a time I guess.

Let me give you some advice. I've been married 13 years. I have a wife that will now watch sports with me (not always) and actually knows what's going on and can make intelligent comments about games. I was lucky to have a girl that knew sports were important to me.

First, you need to encourage her and tell her that you appreciate her trying something that you enjoy. Next, you need to find something that she enjoys and try it.

For example, my wife quilts. With her help I made a small quilt. In return she trained for the Peachtree Road Race and ran it with me.

This will make your marriage stronger.

When I texted my kids at school and told them I found 4 tix to the Miami game they both texted back:

SWEEEEEEEEEEEET!

HAHA, you quilt!:laugher:

Seriously though, thats good advice.

My girlfriend has gone to plenty of Tech games with me, and she enjoys them. She'll cheer for us as long as we're not playing her alma mater, Vandy, which leads me to my favorite story...

When I was at the Clemson game a few weeks ago with some buddies, she went to Athens for the Vandy/ugag game. She has never really understood why I/we all hate ugag so much, and she even had a red shirt on when I went to pick her up for a ugag/GT basketball game one time (don't worry, I made her change).

Anyway, I get a text from her during the game (ours were at the same time) that says, "I hate Georgia ppl they r trash talking me and I am being nice and not cheering when we score and we r down" (can you tell I kept it?)

So then she calls at halftime to tell me she was sitting in the ugag student section with a friend, so she was smart and tried not to be too obnixious when Vandy would do anything good. She cheers when they score to cut it to 14-7 and some douche says, "Who did you guys lose to again last week?" (They had just lost to Miss. St.) So she says back, "You were preseason number 1, and now what are you?"

This made my heart happy. She said they weren't nice the whole game, and now has multiple times said she hates uga people and rejoiced with me in their crushing at the hands of Florida.

So thank you typical ugag fan as well.

My wife used to let me take some guys from the plant to the less attractive games. No more. In fact when I woke the morning of the MSU game with a fever, she told me to stay in bed and got in the car and left my butt, drove to the game by herself.

At least your girlfriend will stay to the end no matter what. I hate it when people leave early!

My wife of 6 months, g/f for 8 years, Kennesaw State grad, talks more shiot at games than I do. I love it!

My daughter and her friend almost got me beat up at the Miami game two years ago.

No one wants to sit behind my wife at a Tech football game. We run a play. SWMBO says, "What happened?" I say, "We made a first down." Immediately she bursts the eardrums of the guy in front of her while hitting him on the head with her umbrella. He responds by bursting my face. Then SWMBO says to the guy in a sweet, soft voice so I will not hear her, "Excuse me sir. Would you mind telling me what a first down is?" :o

My wife and I have been married for 39 years. I am 64 and have been GT all my life. She grew up pulling for UGAG, but was not a fanatical fan. Since we have been together, she has been converted.

When we first married, lived in Atlanta, had season tickets. Then, we moved to Florida, the panhandle, and over the years, due to work, have not always had season tix, but attended at least 1-2 games per year. Now, for last 8-10 years have had season tix, and don't miss many games, driving 500 miles round trip to attend. She loves the Jackets and gets almost as excited as I do.

My daughter graduated from FSU, but loves the Jackets. She lives in Ft. Lauderdale and last weekend was watching game with two friends, also FSU alums. She started out wearing an FSU shirt and GT hat. However, at half-time, she took off FSU shirt, replaced with GT shirt. Her friends were calling her a turn-coat. They both have met me, but have not been around me during a GT game. My baby told them that they just did not understand, She had to pull for the Jackets. God, I love that child.

My wife nearly killed me and three others out of excitement when Florida State fumbled the ball.

My wife went to her first game last weekend and she says she had a good time. She took her cousin along and she showed her the campus. The only thing she gets excited about is World Cup football every four years! [Thanks aeromech!]
