Georgia Tech, Virginia Tech meet amid fading bowl hopes. The battle of the Techs in the Atlantic Coast Conference's Coastal Division often has had championship implications. But those days are in the past. On Saturday, when Georgia Tech (3-5, 2-3 ACC) travels to Blacksburg to face Virginia Tech (2-6, 1-4), the only stakes are the flickering bowl hopes of the struggling teams. While Georgia Tech enters the game on a two-game skid, Virginia Tech has dropped five in a row in its longest losing streak in 30 seasons.

Saturday's game will be televised on Regional Sports Networks (RSN), with Tom Werme (play-by-play), James Bates (analyst) and Wiley Ballard (sideline) on the call with toe meeting Leather at 12:30 p.m. ET! Go Jackets!

Battle of the Coastal basement? From the pinnacle to the pit.

Georgia Tech faces several big obstacles to get back to where we we’re under Paul Johnson’s really good teams and Fridge and O’Leary. But the biggest is not a fancy new HC. It’s getting out of the ACC to The Big. That alone will make a huge difference in recruiting.

I've heard we've won three in a row up there. And no one other than klem has had four consecutive road wins there.

I will try to watch the game. It will be a day after having surgery, so no promises. Just know I will be rooting for us...

Often?

This game will impact the bottom 25 rankings.
I think if Pyron is QB, we'll win a close one.

Ah, wonderful. For those unaware, RSN = Bally Sports in GA.

I can appreciate this, because I lived through the first 10 years of post expansion divisional ACC, when it was either Virginia Tech or Georgia Tech in the ACCCG, but we are going on 8 years since this game was relevant in the coastal, time to put the talking point to bed.

The next 5 years of these two programs are going to be very interesting, and I see a lot more upside for GT.

It's the nerd bowl. GTFO of here with that battle of the techs weak sauce.

VT Chris’s Prediction: Georgia Tech 20, Virginia Tech 17
VT Will’s Prediction: Georgia Tech 24, Virginia Tech 17
VT David’s Prediction: Georgia Tech 23, Virginia Tech 21

Agree, if we get the right coach. We can't miss like we did on Geoff Collins!

I’m still mad GT vs VT is not going to be one of our permanent games with the end of divisions.

a lot of great games over the years and a fun rivalry. Even Reddit is sad the “Techmo Bowl” is going away.
