The “team that will challenge Duke for the bottom of the ACC” has played 3 of 4 game opening gauntlet that everyone was talking about just one short month ago.
At this point, I have to say that it has been a long time since I have so much promise in the GT program.
When has the last time I saw an undermanned team play with this much intensity for 3 games straight? It was back when I was in school and a coach by the name of Bobby Ross had just gotten on TV and gave an emotional post-game interview.
Was I hurt last night? Sure. It felt like October 1992 again, however this time it looks like something is building instead of crumbling.000.
This team (and program) was left for dead after the way last season ended and then we lost half a recruiting class of players to academics. People had written GT off. Said that they would be lucky to win 3 games this year. Questioned whether the “career NFL” coach and staff had what it took to turn things around.
I’m here to tell you, these guys are for REAL !!!
This team went into Provo, a place that history has shown as a hostile place to play, and almost came away with a win. This was a team that believed in themselves but was not sure if they should. 4 TOs inside the Red Zone was what seperated GT from coming out on top.
Then this “shell of its former self” team took on the mighty ground attack of Auburn and their studded line, backfield, and “great defense”. These guys only went out and SHOCKED THE WORLD. They shut down the potent running attack. Cut through the O’Line like a hot knife through butter. Made the AU Def. look like a weak sister of the poor team. Would not allow them to get into OUR endzone.
Then last night I saw this group go up against the “Old FSU”. The “Sleeping giant that had gotten it’s swagger back.”
Friends, that is the quietest I have EVER heard DKS on a Saturday night. These kids totally shocked everyone but themselves.
This is 3 STRAIGHT GAMES. Some teams can get up for 1, maybe even once in a long while 2, but these guys are 3 for 3. I have to believe that we are going to see a lot more in the future.
You and I as Joe fan have one of 3 options. We can get on board, get off, or get the heck out of the way; but be sure of this, this Train is leaving the station and is ready to roll!!
