Crazy enough to commit crimes to pay players to become an influential booster. I want Tech to win and am willing to donate what I can but even if I had the means, I don't value our on-field success enough to justify buying players. I have no problem with the "$100 dollar handshakes" after games (go get yourself a cheeseburger, kid) but to spend tens/hundreds of thousands of dollars just go get a kid to sign... these guys need to get a life.

I really hate the idea that a good but not great offensive lineman is worth $180,000.

I hate under-the-table payments as well, but $180,000 for Vadal Alexander?!? Brings my dislike to a whole new level.

PS Always loved the bag man interview, and had the ring of truth to me.

On all this and GT, I believe (and hope) that only a limited universe of players (Cam, Vidal, etc.), call it 15% or less, need obvious cash payments and that drives their destination. I believe (and hope) the majority of top players make their decision on the "brand" of a school and how much upside they get for their overall life. You go to the school that gives you the best leverage on going high in the draft, for example. Sure, many or even most may take a little sumptin sumptin but it does not change their decisions.
 
I wonder if the reduced sentence is related to an agreement to testify against other criminals. They could include donors who knew the money was going to bribe players yet took the "charitable donation" off their taxes and recepients who did not pay taxes on the money received.
I suspect every SEC team except maybe Vandy has similar schemes in place. I do not expect the NCAA to do anything meaningful.

I’m shocked, I say.
That he is only getting three years. That the NCAA will actually do anything. That the FBI will actually do anything. That LSU will actually do anything. That the SEC will actually do anything. Back to our regular scheduled SEC game. Grrrrrr!
 
We definitely need more crazy boosters wanting to get closer to the inner circle, hell, create an even bigger & younger inner circle at the GTAA.

The academic side has more $ than they can even ethically handle. The GTAA needs that more than they do.

And the GTAA will use it to benefit the entirety of GT more than the egghead, Hillnerds could ever imagine. And do it more economically as well.

But the Alum Assn and those like the Peterson criminal family are too smart to have any common sense.
 
The reason we have the budget and staff we have now is due to the crazy boosters some of you claim are missing. As I recall, our current head coach and athletic director have been escorting these boosters since before his hire.

We have our crazies also but certainly no where near the factories. I know an alum who went to law school but decided real estate was his ticket, started making money at it, and bought his way into CPJ's regular poker game with donations back when the indoor practice facility was being built.
