is for the OL to go out and hit somebody in the dang mouth!!! Actually come off the ball, make contact, and bury the individual in the turf at HGF@BDS!!

If I am the OL coach, which I am not, the first OL I see that does not make contact comes off the field and parks his behind on the pine and stays there for a good long while.

I really believe we can go out there and cram it down Clemson's throat. We have not done it yet this year I realize, BUT I say we make the challenge and see how the OL responds. I'll take 3 downs of 3-4 yards each carry. I do not care how boring it is, it all adds up to first downs and eventually scores.

I agree...and the first defender not to wrap up on the tackle needs to be on the pine.

I don't recall us benching guys for making bad plays. Maybe we do and I've just overlooked it...but I'm still pissed off that Ms. Andrew #83 Smith got to return more balls in the last game. If you want to bench someone, bench him.

Word is that he won't see punt return action for a long, long time.

I officially nominate RM-2 as line coach. I still like his plan for last years ND game and agree we should use it Saturday. Matter of fact, we should be using it every Saturday.

I agree with that PM. It seems today that most defenders across the country, noty just ours, are looking for the BIG hit that makes highlight videos.

When you hit someone grab SOMETHING, cloth, foot, ANYTHING. There is nothing better that a great DE-CLEATER, knocking someone on their backside. BUT, if you do not wrap up and bring him down and he gains an extra 5 or 10 yards what have you accomplished?

So, yes I agree with you, the first individual that does not wrap and bring the runner down needs to find himself on the pine as well.

Rome,

It may be time for me to resurrect that post and put it back up here for this weeks game. Lord knows we could sure use for someone to knock the piss outta SOMEBODY!!!

I want to see us go out and play with reckless abandon and fly around and have fun.

If our SA's gice everything they have and lay it all on the line and we still get beat, then I could live with that. BUT, if we go out and half-heartidly get after Clemson, then I have no patience for another loss.

GO JACKETS!!!!

KNOCK 'EM ON THEIR ARSES!!!!

"Ms. Andrew #83 Smith"

WrecktheRest. I have no problem with benching guys who don't play well and I have no problem at all with Smith not returning punts any longer. But the "Ms." crap is uncalled for. He may have dropped the ball but he has the guts to stand back there knowing he's going to take a hit.

This is really the point Gundy at OSU was trying to make. Say he isn't a good punt returner and that he shouldn't play anymore. But to challenge the kid's manhood shows more about you than about him.

The punt return did not cost us the game, although it didn't help.

1- We only have a couple of guys that can tacle on D. Neither on the line of scrimmage.
2- We do not SWARM to the ball.
3- We do not HIT on the OL. Just a gentle push.
4- Blocking and tackling will cure a bunch of ills.

When we play with intensity we are a pretty good team, but we only do that about 7 or 8 times a year!

In football, blocking and tackling cure all ills.

I felt our intensity was fine for BC, just not our execution. I didn't watch UVA. (listened to the radio, had UVA announcers)

I have a great BIG AMEN to that!!!

Those are ills that can be cured though. Every last one of them.

beej67,

I respectfully disagree with the BC comment. I thought we came out flat. Just my opinion,.

I don't think we came out flat against BC. I think BC just flat out beat us. Their offensive line handled our pressure and beat us man for man. Their QB had time to slice up our secondary. I think our guys played hard the entire game, they just got beat.

On offense, I think our guys tried way to hard to avoid mistakes. TC had numerous cutback opportunities against BC, but he tried to pound his way through holes that weren't there. TB wasn't aggressive enough on his passes and checked down to his safety (usually the RB) to quickly. It kept us from turning the ball over, but we were weren't able to break open their coverage like Wake or NCState.

I wasn't able to watch the UVa game, so I have no comment on it.

I think our offense looked pretty good early vs BC, but our defense got schooled on playcalling (rockROCKROCK) and adjusted fairly well for the 3rd drive and beyond.

We saw the same game, Wracer. I totally agree.
