(edit: even I admit the headline is funny)

I think the people who posted that piece of stupidity should be banned for being impostors. That was obviously a Ugag'er stunt to stir up trouble.

Why would Will Muschamp leave Auburn to become the DC here? That's not even a lateral move based on recent history of our two programs.

Why would Hatcher leave GSU to become an Offensive Coordinator here? That's a demotion!

Hatch turned down the FSU offensive coordinator job when he was the head coach at VSU. If he turned down that situation, why would he ever in a gotrillion years consider coming here now?

Dumb rumors are as frustrating as dumb searches.

That's just something I had to get off my chest. It's been bothering me for days.

I believe there was at least a grain of truth to it. We could double hatch's salary as anOC and he might believe that it would be easier to get a D1 head coaching job as an OC than a GSU head coach (evidence that we looked harder at Muschamp than Hatcher). And they are very close friends. That being said you have a right to your opinion.

I think its even "Dumer" to post that it was the dumest rumor when you have no idea if it was actually a rumor or the truth...

You know...just because it was truly the dumbest rumor. I deem that it will come true and we will all find out tomorrow.

The GSU forum has been saying for a few days that hatcher thinks all of this is funny and it actually has helped him recruit for GSU. Saying he is using the angle of how great of a coach he must be if everyone wants him.

I still think we can get him but i'm not sure if his mind is set or not, the media is giving mixed messages on if we have even contacted him or not. His AD said we have not even contacted him yet.

I tried using that angle when defending Gailey after his being a candidate for the Dolphins job earlier this year. Didn't really get a whole lot of traction there.

Don't forget that Dem reported Monday that the WM deal was with Giff and Hatcher was not involved at all.

Let's see, Hatcher wants to become a major college HC.

He could stay in podunk Statesboro coaching a team that gets no media attention, or he could become OC on a team that is on TV most every Saturday, and gets a couple of national games a year. His offense would be frequently discussed on ESPN.

And he could double his salary.

How do you define "demotion"? Just because he has a lesser title? That's pretty shallow thinking, and demeaning to GT.

Tell you what: I'll make you President of a company at half your salary. Do you want the promotion?

Glenn Spencer left a Head Coach position at West Georgia after going 10-2, 8-3, 10-2 to become the running backs coach at GT in 2001.

Hatcher has NO interest in becoming the OC at GT. His next job will be as HC at a BCS school. That may be three or four years down the road. If the GT HC job was so great, you'd already have a new coach. When your top prospect is debating on whether to coach at a non-BCS one win program or GT, I don't think I'd be crowing about someone else being podunk anything. The only thing better about the GT job over GSU is the money, and money AIN'T everything. Hatcher drives a 25 year old pickup truck to work. He won't take a job at GT just because it pays more.

When in comes to quality of life, Statesboro is a much better place to live than Atlanta. Who the hell wants to be dropped in the middle of four million people? Hatcher will be much more comfortable raising his family in Statesboro than in Atlanta.

Statesboro may be a better place to live than Atlanta. However, Hatcher and his family I believe live in Macon and he commutes to Statesboro. I am pretty sure that those to commutes would be about the same.

Also can anyone name me a head coach of a Div. 2 school who made the jump to a BSC program besides Jim Tressell, who by the way coached at that Div. 2 school for like 14 years. Div. 2 HC jump at the opportunity to become DC's and OC's at BCS schools because it is the quickest way to get the be a HC at a BCS school.

When are you people going to get it...1-AA or FCS is not DII. Tressel coached at Youngstown State, which was when he was there and is today - Division 1.

Hatcher's parents live in Macon. Chris and his family live in Statesboro.

I heard that rumor directly from one of the supposed "insiders" on this board, that the original deal Clough vetoed was going to be Muschamp+Hatcher+Giff/JT, and I told him directly he was full of it.

I suppose there's a slim chance it was true. Big deal. We may never know if he was telling the truth or not, because we'll never know anything, but that rumor was definitely what started this week worth of Freakoutery, and it was a dumb rumor. Dumb dumb dumb. Someone might as well show up on Stingtalk, claim to be an 'insider,' and say Clough vetoed Spurrier.

If some UGA guy sat around on his computer and decided to invent a rumor to fracture the Tech fanbase, that'd be the rumor he'd write.

the rumor was muschamp as head and hatcher as OC...not the other way around, from what I understand.

and there was some truth to it if the people (plural) who told me and have been on key this whole time; were right.

one was an ex-GT player that knows Kirby Smart; that was part of that "package"

take it for what its worth.

Clough vetoed Spurrier because the OBC only wanted 200k/yr. Clough though it would look bad if we weren't putting up the big dollars for our next coach.

LOL; your posts rank as the most full of it on this board for months. Between eating crow from me with the Friedgen run pass ratio thing weeks ago, to the stupidity that fridge ran a bunch of TO here as nearly his base offense; you have lost more credibility than a whore in a convent.

you should be the last person to talk.
