Anybody other than me think that CPJ might come out and unveil our run and shoot big time this week? I just have a hunch. A hunch that we might throw for more yards than we run for and Bay Bay get about 10 balls thrown to him.

Anybody?

I'd be surprised. PJ has said numerous times we are a run first team but we'll pass if that's what it takes to win.

I doubt it. Here's my personal take on GT and passing:

We will have the same, or very similar, run/pass ratio this year. The difference will be that we aren't running the basic pass play that we ran(and did not really practice) last year...we will be running the run/shoot.

What this will amount to is

a) a better comp %
b) more passing yards, but without more actual passes
c) more rushing yards, b/c teams will have to respect the pass, even though we don't actually do it much.

Teams got away last year with pretty much ignoring our passing b/c there was a solid chance that we just wouldn't complete the ball or our OL would crumble and we would scramble/get sacked. If you think our comp % was bad last year, go back and factor in all the busted pass plays as incompletions. Wowwee....this year, we won't be passing more, we will just be passing better.

No. I think that our game is dependent upon the run. I think we switch to more passing only if it will not detract from the running game. In other words, I don't see CPJ forcing the passing game. Nix would have forced something like that, but not CPJ. CPJ seems to be a coach that reads and reacts. He can make adjustments on the fly.

If it gains yards, we will pass. If it gains yards, we will run. CPJ doesn't have a run/pass ratio in mind, or a set first 10 plays or whatever. He calls whatever he thinks will get the most yards.

Agreed. I just feel that Clemson has the mindset that "we're just gonna bow up and stop the option". And with that, I can totally see a 4 TD passing game or something. I just see us passing more because I think Clemson's defense will allow it.

I see some nice long TD catches but just because they commit too much to the run.

We score more points on the ground.

I think he'll do the same thing he's historically done. He's won a lot of games with the same plays and scheme.

Yeah, but that was before the existence of game film from the LSU game. LSU game film is the reason we will never prevail against a FBS team again. I heard that LSU actually had to invent a time machine and send videographers forward in time to their game against us in the Chick-Fil-A bowl in order to see how we could be beaten. Now the recipe is out. Everyone else is like Biff with the sports almanac from the future and we are like.... the people without it.

I think he is shooting for something along the lines of 9/12 passing for about 200 yards.

I wonder if the Clemson DL is going to have that wide split like last year. There were a couple of plays where the left side of our line saw 3 DL, while the right only had a guy over the tackle. It wasn't the FSU formation, as they had some safety help fairly close. But I think Dwyer did get some decent (5-6) yardage each time.

I think PJ will do whatever he has to do to win. I doubt he goes into any game with a predetermined ratio of run to pass. He's said many times that he never scripts plays. He observes the defense and calls the best play to counter what they're trying to do.

he drops one pass and all of a sudden he's garbage
Whoa...you kind of slippery sloped Allen there, no?

BeBe has had a problem dropping easy balls since he's been playing here...but nobody said he is "garbage"
