The Ghost of Bad QB's Past!

Repeat after me, "Gee, maybe Reggie Ball wasn't so bad after all!" :laugher:

Booker was unbelievable - Following on the internet, I couldn't tell how far he actually threw the ball on the TD pass to Dwyer (I assume short pass and long run). Must be those Auburn roots reaching back for him.

And who the hell is this Dykes kid? - Looked like he was even worse than Booker.

And what's with Dwyer - Was it just that Booker's pitches were so bad, or can even a 1-AA coach figure out how to stop the TO?

I haven't thrown up in my mouth this much since watching the Texans choke one away against Indy last Sunday!

beej1953,

I saw the game (sic). Repeat after me. NO BLOCKING! None. Zero. Nada. Zip. Our OL was whipped to a frazzle. They were in the backfield faster than the center could snap the ball. No room for Dwyer to run, either.

All of what you said was a product of terrible blocking. Our line was manhandled in every way known to man, and then a few ways they made up on the fly.

As one poster on the Hive said, "Our O-line was replaced by 10-year old girl scouts."

I guess that pretty well explains it all.

There's plenty of blame to go around. If I had only one blame, I would hand it to the offensive line. In order for any quarterback to fulfill their duty, the offensive line needs to do theirs. I wasn't able to watch the game but I did tune into play-by-play commentary by Wes Durham and the only QB issue I've heard was the interception thrown by Calvin.

Jonathan, Roddy, Marcus, Lucas, or none of the combination of backs CPJ put into the ball game could do much with the ball on the ground. I don't blame CPJ for not putting Josh in the game because Calvin wasn't the problem. Unless Josh has some magic power that makes our offensive line remember how to block, it would have been Josh that took two sacks and potentially gotten hit more because he might have kept the ball more.

The "pass" to Dwyer was a desperation attempt at not getting a sack. It happened to land in the hands of a man that knows what to do with it when he gets some space.

Right now, honestly, our OL is the suck. Not really sure what the problem is.

Guys, I don't like to call out players but our GCG played like stanky dawg doo against what looked like a 3 man line to me. The nose man was hitting Dwyer the same time as the handoff. Our center was diving at his freakin ankles and wiffing most times.
