flew back with the team last night.

I wonder if he had his barber on board? :laugher::laugher::laugher:

haha..i wonder if he is really going to make everybody cut the dreads off. does anyone think this could make people transfer? maybe morgan burnett?

If they leave.....they leave. Granted, I don't want Morgan (for sure) or anyone else that wants to be at GT to transfer but it is time to start from scratch. TOUGHNESS is what we lack, and it all starts at the top. Players will only do what you let them do!!!

I'd really like to see you say to any player's face who transfers that he is not tough. If you do, I'll fly to Atlanta (or whereever) to watch.

What does the length of one's hair have to do with toughness? What a redneck point of view.

Proud to be a redneck, but at least I'm a disciplined Redneck.

Point is, everyone's not like Joe. He drew attention to himself by his play not by his hair. Others on this team can't say the same.

Big John, I think you guys are making too much of the hair thing. There evidently was no rule, so guys wore it like they wanted to. I would be they care more about what the girls think off the field than what people think on it. But I'm sure you don't think Troy Palomolu or however you spell it is plenty tough and disciplined.

Troy's in the NFL , this is college. And you're right there was no rule because Chan coach with NFL rules which is wrong for a 18 y/o kid.

maybe I'm making too much of it but it still bugs the hell out of me that these kids or some of them have no respect for elders or how they look.

You lookin' for a fight? ;)

Uniform- consistantly the same, alike.

When players try to look "different" from their teammates, they are not trying to fit into the team;' it's that simple.

Hair, pretty obvious way to stand out. I never cared for the tatoos for the same reason.....

But hey, I'm a dinosaur.....

Rules on hair length, facial hair, dress code on road trips, posture at meetings, all of this is important. But, there are different schools of thought on the right approach. Some coaches have lots of rules to instill discipline. Others want to gain trust of players and keep the rules minimal and leave hair styles and dress codes up to players.

Which approach has worked? Both. Which approach has failed? Both. It is up to the coach to figure out which aproach works best for the way he wants to run a team. This was Gailey's call. Now it's Paul Johnson's.

Mover, I really do believe it is truly a coach's call. I was there during Pepper's era - he was really a "players' coach" and for the most part it worked for him. But, as the son of an old high school coach who very much enforced haircuts, no facial hair, and coats and ties to games I would prefer that approach personally. I think attention to detail and pride in everything you do can contribute to success.

And, I am the Dad of a player who got to know Gailey's staff through recruiting and camps, but he is at ECU. You would have liked him - a 6'3" 275 pound center.

My son is a basketball recruit, actually going on a recruiting trip tomorrow, he wears his hair short (The J.J. Reddick Duke look) I like that Duke look and coach K. definetly exudes discipline...

John and others are on to something with the clean look and discipline..it goes hand in hand..Military style..

I just believe we need all the help we can get ... and I would rather include than exclude potential talent. It is hard enough to recruit here ... why make it tougher?

THe answer is easy, review the last 6 seasons. Give me kids that want to be members of the GT team. Couple that with a good coach and we will be back!
