The Nashville bowl still plans to take GT

If GT wins the next 2, the Music City bowl still plans to take the Jackets even if Gailey is fired. Why?

They won't take UVA, MIA or Wake. NCSU, UNC, and Duke are out.

They would take FSU but think they'll end up in Orlando or even Jacksonville if they win out. They don't want BC again and assume they will go to the Orange, CFA, or Gator. VT will go to one of those three. Clemson will go higher and they were there last year.

Plus, they think they will almost for sure get the loser of the Bama vs. auburn game and they believe (as do I) GT will travel to Nashville to play vs. an SEC team with or without Gailey.

So, if we win the next 2, we should be going to Nashville. If we win the next three, we will still be going to Nashville.

The only team that could possibly keep us out is FSU and they would still require a Gailey firing and the boal thinking GT just wouldn't travel at all based on they Gailey situation.

My guesses of ACC bowl Games as of right now:

Orange - VT
Gator - Clemson
Chick-fil-A - UVA
Charlotte - BC
Orlando - FSU
Music City - GT
San Fran - MIA
Boise - Wake

My SEC guesses (these are really totally guesses):

BCS - LSU
Orange - FL
Capital One - Georgia
Cotton - Alabama
Chick-fil-A - TN
Music City - Auburn
Independence - ARK
Liberty - Kentucky
Other - South Carolina and Miss State

I would gladly go to the Music City Bowl. If it were Gailey's swan song that would make it all that much better.

That's good news, IMO. Got a source?

thwg seems to have an inside source with the Music City Bowl. I remember him saying they regretted taking UVA over Tech a couple years ago when we got sent out west.

yes guy on selection cmte for the nashville bowl. We (my firm) also sponsors the bowl.

thwg....can't you do better than that!!!!!!!!!! lol

Thanks for the information, we will be attending this or any other Bowl our Jackets go to.

FSU won't be a concern unless they are 7-5 and we are 6-6, I'd think. If we are 7-5 it's hard to see who would be picked over us at that point. 8-4 locks us in for sure and gives us a very outside shot at the Champs.

That said, I was looking at this last night and I'm not sure at this point I see any of the SEC #2-5 bowls picking up Kentucky over Alabama or Auburn, provided they don't have a loss that isn't to the other. Kentucky's lost 3 of their last 4 and still has UGA and Tennessee on their schedule.

I say this because with our secondary, I really fear playing Andre' Woodson in a bowl game.

Wasn't there a new "rule" that the ACC came out with two years ago in regards to the order of selecting teams that are 2 games apart in the standings?

It seems that could help Wake.

Yes they can only take a team if they are within 1 game in the standings. If Wake goes 6-2 and Gt goes 4-4, then a bowl cannot take Gt over Wake. I assume if Wake goes 6-2 (that means they have to win their next two including at Clemson), they would go to Charlotte. but I think Clemson will beat them Saturday meaning any 4-4 team can be picked ahead of them.

Yes you are correct.

Thanks for clearing that up.

I could not believe UVA got away with another close victory. This one was not as lucky as about 2 or 3 others...but they were definitely fortunate to come away with a win. I think UVA loses their next three games.

bumping back to the top as this was covered last week.

I have a lot of buddies that went to Alabama so I'd love to spend NYE in Nashville watching a GT vs Bama matchup. I havent done the math on the SEC side. It sounds like the loser of the Iron Bowl will probably go to Nashville? Any chance Bama could go anyway even if they beat Auburn?

Thanks...

for Bama to go to Nashville even if they beat Auburn a few things would have to happen. UK would have to beat either TN or UGA and have a bowl choose them ahead of Bama (highly unlikely).

the SEC would only get one team in the BCS. Here you would need to Uga to lose, TN to lose, and maybe even FL to lose. TN losing to LSU is likely. UGA losing to GT is not all that likely. Plus if GT beats UGA and UNC, we might go to Orlando.

Gt vs. Bama will be if we're both 7-5 and lose to our rivals. So, as fun as it would be, i hope it doesn't happen because I would much rather beat UGA.

I think it will be Gt vs Auburn or Kentucky as I think Bama will win next week.

Many thanks. I agree that nothing would be more fun than a win over UGA! Appreciate the info...

I thought I read some where this clause is only in affect for the top 3 ACC bowl tie ins.

Who is more attractive for this game... GT or FSU?

Don't get me wrong -- I'd really love to go to this game and see GT, but, I'm just curious which way the committee would lean if they had a choice between these two schools.

I am not sure what your avatar is...but everytime I see it , it eerily reminds me of the VT killer and his pre-rage pictures....ugh.

It's The Eradicator from The Kids in the Hall. I guess I should change it since not too many people get it. :-/

"the Eradicator from the Kids in the Hall" sounds exactly like the kid at VT. He was an eradicator and one of the kids in the Hall.

I assumed your avitar had something to do with Iraq and assumed you are a radical Muslim. Hence, I know everything about you now as do the Feds from a tips I gave them.

:D
