The Norseman\'s ACC predictions

The artist formerly known as GThor (now known as 'Technician' on Stingtalk) will now share his predictions for the ACC this year. Odhinn bless him in his efforts.

1) FSU- Just loaded. Need I say more. With all their injuries and inexperience last year, they still looked dominating at times.

2) Clemson. Yeah, I know everyone hates the Bowdens. Their WR talent is primo, and Simmons beats Dantzler any day passing. W/O Watkins supercatch, Simmons beats us 2 years ago. Rambert and Kelly beat the superattitude of Zachery.

3) GT. No more 'wimping out on our heels' defense. The QB and the TB will come around. OL depth is a worry.

4) Wake Forest. I liked Wake's DBs last season. Those guys love to hit. Every significant person on offense returns.

5) Virginia. Groh(th) brings in some talent. QB is weak but I like McMullen and Pearman. DBs are experienced.

6) Maryland. Wake up, Fridge. You will not go to a bowl this year. Keep hitting the recruiting trail hard and improve your talent.

7) UNC. The QB potential plus the WR talent equals a few bombs. Defense struggles.

8) NC State. There has never been a more overrated bunch. Rivers puts up big yards but loses a lot of games w/weak lines.

9) Duke. Puke.

Re: The Norseman\'s ACC predictions

I think the jury is still out on FSU. Everyone keeps pointing out that they now have an experienced QB.

It was not the qb problems that led to NC embarassing them. And just like what Cracker said NCST put a good number on that D in FSU's front yard.

Certainly FSU is still the favorite however they will lose at least one ACC game and probably lose to UF at home and Miami.

All the magazines have it like this:
1. F$U
2. Maryland
3. NC State
4. GT
5. Clempson
6. Virginia
7. Wake Forest
8. UNC
9. Duke

Re: The Norseman\'s ACC predictions

I watched NCSU dismantle FSU in Tally last season.
The Wolfpack is my #2 or #3 pick in the conference
right now and they will not fall below #5 or #6
IMHO.

Re: The Norseman\'s ACC predictions

Crackerjacket,

I watched us dominate NC State in Atlanta last year. They also got whipped by a pretty crummy Pittsburgh team in their bowl game. Rivers rarely ever has much throwing time. That's why everything is a short dump. Their offense is useless inside the 20. I believe their defense and special teams scored some of the points vs. FSU. Anyway, FSU was not FSU last year.

FHStinger,

I've looked at all the magazines. I just don't agree with them. I believe Athlon was the magazine that picked 'Bama to be #3 in the nation the year they went 4-7. Fridge had nearly every possible bounce go his way last year. People will be ready for him this year.

Re: The Norseman\'s ACC predictions

NCSU ran a very balanced offense against FSU. It
may have been their best rushing game of the whole
season for the Wolfpack. They just never let up
on the 'Noles.

I was at the GT vs NCSU game as well and was very
pleased that we spanked them.

FSU's problem last season was the lack of a good
pass rush. That's why we beat NCSU and they did
not.

The Wolfpack cannot be overlooked this season.

Re: The Norseman\'s ACC predictions

Sorry but methinks Odin has left you high and dry my friend...

First off... Clemson's biggest problem last year was not offense, nor will that be their problem this year. Ya see that other side of the ball, the defense, is where they ran into problems.

Secondly, Wake Forest lost BOTH starting TB's. Yep that's right the much ballyhooed ground game of Wake that averaged 219 yards a game last season will be down and out come Aug 31st.

NCSU will not finish second or third in the ACC but around 5th. They have absolutely little besides Rivers on offense and their defense wasn't that good last year.

Maryland will finish 3rd or so just based on the fact that Fridge's offense does not require a QB to be the star but rather not make mistakes. The defense for the Terps should keep them in the majority of games unless they play an offensive juggernaught.

Here are my picks:

1) FSU
2) GT
3) UM
4) UVA
5) NCSU/Clemson
7) UNC
8) Wake
9) Duke
