There was a fumble during a critical point in the game, and it was Reggie vs an Auburn player, both headed for the ball...Reggie took a tremendous hit (in fact, looked to me like he had his bell rung a little bit) - but dove for the ball, and got it.

That spoke volumes about his guts and desire to win.

This is where he reminds me of Joe H., his leadership and desire to win....I always felt that with Joe, the team KNEW he was going to find a way to win, and it became contagious. The confidence grew and snowballed..

Its obviously very early - but so far, his confidence and leadership, for a freshman is amazing IMO

Very true.

I thought you were going to mention the one where somebody didn't pick up the blitz and the AU db was all over Ball deep in our territory. Ball scrambled, eluded the tackler and then completed the pass under tremendous pressure.

The fan sitting behind me quipped that if that had been our former QB, he would have p*ssed himself back on the 10 yard line and thrown an interception.

I'm really looking forward to watching Ball dazzle opponents over the next few years.

For my money, Joe will have to take a back seat to Reggie by the time Reggie is finished. GT now has a QB not a wannabe on the field. No disrespect to DB, simply put GT has the tools, it's time to go to work!

Gold Rush - I agree with you as far as confidence goes. At the end of the 1999 UGA game I remember thinking that we should just let UGA score so Joe would have enough time to answer.

I think the players and fans all thought we would win when Joe took the field. When Joe was leading the team, people weren't hoping for a win; they expected a win.

Ball shows signs of being a leader that can inspire that kind of confidence.

That fumble recovery was absolutely crucial. It is impressive to see a freshman with that kind of awareness.

What a game by a true freshman QB!

While I doubt it will be possible for Reggie to post the numbers that Little Joe did in the RF offense, I am hopeful that the win totals will be as great, or greater as we move into the future. If we get very lucky on injuries this year, it may even be sooner.

We need to remember that Joe had to make the plays because of no D, and our hope was to have the ball last in order to win. We had to have the come-from-behind victories because we were almost always behind.
If CG sticks to the pro-style championship game (defense first, do not kill yourself on O, take what the D gives you without forcing), Reggie will be just fine with lower "numbers." I'll take every victory we can get with only 17 points.

Ball is everything Suggs is not-quick,resouceful,mentally tough, fball aware, and probably has a stronger arm.Gee,I wonder how he took the job.
Compare the fumble recovery SAT to the int last yr in the FSU game by Suggs. It is a microcosm of difference in the two players.Suggs didn't even stop the runback for a TD that HE THREW.While Ball got to a ball that he didn't even lose.

Ball has the potential to be the best ever at Tech, but Joe will always be near the top in my book. He always furiously rallied us against other teams. If Ball can get the FSU monkey off of our back, the top pedestal will be his.

The Heading: "The one play that characterizes Reggie Ball"

Q.B. Draw mixed with Q.B. scramble.

But (with no negative at ALL!!!!!! on Joe H.whom I hold lovingly and dearly) there is something about this kid. Enthusiasm, leadership, excitement, confidence, "bounce-back", you name it.......?????that may, I say "just May" surpass our loveable Joe H. The jury is still out, but dang, this young man is SPECIAL so far. If he can only keep it up and grow.......HOLY COW!!!!!!!!!!!

P.S.--- If nothing bad happens and he adds the option........whoa nelly!! Watch Out, sky is the limit. When I think of what it might be, I am flooded with "impossible"; but if, just if it is, and he has a descent team with him.......BA--ROOM!!!

I love the kid. I also love the comment below that he told reporters after the game. I can't wait for four more years of this kid.
