I have a tendency to be mired in negativity when our season takes this sort of turn, so here is my attempt to focus on the positives from an objective point of view:

-TB: Taylor looked great in the second half and really showed some of his potential. Hopefully, this can be built on.
-OL: The O-line did a great job, especially in the 2nd half. TB had time to throw and lanes were open for the running game.
-TC: Tashard seems to be about 80% healthy, and had a great game vs MD.
-2nd half playcalling: The playcalling for 90% of the 2nd was great. We got a lot of folks involved in the offense, and mixed things up well. Of course, the final drive inside the 30 was a train wreck, but that had Gailey's fingerprints all over it, so I'm willing to give Bond a pass there.
-TBell: Yes he missed the game winner, but not by much. His leg is impressive and we'll likely need him again. It looked the 47 yarder he missed earlier was caused by a slip, so hopefully that won't happen again.
-2nd Half Defense: keeping with the theme of positivity, the defense did get settled in the 2nd half and played well, just giving up the one scoring drive.
-Schedule: we play two very beatable teams in Miami and Army before our game with VT. If we can take care of business, we have a chance to carry some momentum into the Thursday night game
-The Players: I was very impressed with the heart of our players in the 2nd half. It would have been easy to stay down on themselves, but they rallied hard and I believe left it all on the field
-Big Boi's upcoming performance :laugher:
-UGA blew a huge opportunity in losing to Tennessee and now has 2 losses BEFORE playing Florida!!

Okay, that's my message of postivity for the Board...

GO JACKETS!!!

I like the notion of getting back to the games infont of us as well. The politics and coaching complaints bog down way to many college MB's. We need to win now. We seemed really banged up in alot of spots. Do we have enough to get by Miami? They are not the paper tiger people are suggesting. They are close to putting a complete game together. If that is Saturday and we are flat we could become one of the biggest jokes in CFB for 2007. The way i see it now: BC will play VT for ACC..pretty much what everybody(outside ATL) thought preseason.

Agreed. We REALLY need a sense of urgency vs Miami. I am hopeful that at least the players will find a way to get themselves up for this game. Desperation can be an excellent motivator. Maybe this is where TB will step up as a leader and get the team focused right at kickoff. His 2nd half performance vs Maryland should have given him some real credibility with the team, so this would be an excellent time to step up and lead. I really don't want to rely on our coaching staff to get the team prepared, I've lost confidence there, I'd like to see it come from within via TB, Choice, and/or Wheeler.

There ARE some positives- you left out the fact miami is ALSO very frustrated.
otoh- just playing at home will probably be enough to carry them vs Tech

Sorry wannabee, didn't mean to bring ya' down, dude...

Let's say we win out, its not likely that we'll even make the ACCCG...so what would be the NEXT BEST achievable bowl?

The (i refuse to call it Chick-fil-a) Peach Bowl?

Is the Gator out of the question if we don't win the coastal?

No, (I may be wrong, but I don't think I am) the Gator is not obligated to take the ACC loser. I do know that the ACC wants the ACCCG loser in one of it's bigger bowls (i.e., Peach or Gator), so they may pressure to make sure that happens.

There are no positives. Get over it!

We have SERIOUS problems. So what are we gonna do?

Run the option with Nesbitt? What? We need to start running it.

Chan just doesn't know how to HC/Lead. He's a decent asst but can't handle the pressure of winning, or giving up the 2m a year.

He needs to leave on friendly terms.

Posing nude in front of a mirror doesn't count for confidence.

"WE" aren't going to do anything. At this point, it is up to the players to focus, step up, play to potential, and most importantly, PLAY WITH PRIDE. If I see that kind of effort from our boys, then I'll consider that worth the price of admission. I'm less worried at this point about our overall record, bowl appearance, ACCCG, etc. I've lost faith in our coach, but not in our players.

That's just me of course....

I don't think you are alone in that statement. Think it sums up quite a few posters feelings actually, and is a very good way to put it.

For those of you who actually attended last week's game in MD, there were indeed some positives:
--the offense in the second half was on fire, playing the way they're capable.
--the defense played well, other than the one drive.
--the play calling at the end was questionable, but it seems no one is giving the coaches credit for going for it on fourth and long in the fourth quarter, which led to the last, critical touchdown.

If you watched this group in warmups, you couldn't help but notice that there are quite a few more athletes than we've had for quite a while. They were also a bit lethargic..but it was on the road, hot, etc. I also don't think they took UMD that seriously.

FWIW, this team could conceivably win out, or certainly go 5-1. The talent is there, and I think they would respond better to positive vibes from these posts, as opposed to the latest permutation of how to run off ccg. Rad will make the appropriate move there after the season.
