This has been the most difficult sporting event for me to try to move on from in at least 15 years. And that includes 28-3 as a Falcons fan.

It's easy to say shit like, "We'll let this fuel us and we'll come back next year and beat them." But the reality is, that may be true... or it may not. UGA is unfortunately one of the few elite programs now, and they will always have the upper hand on us from a depth perspective. It hurts so damn bad to let one slip away (or more accurately, have one taken away) when it should've been won because you just never know when it'll be within our grasp again.

I do think a lot about 2013 and how I felt many of the same feelings then (even though, for some reason, this game was much harder to process). And then 2014 happened. And I can see a path to the same type of 2025 for us next year.

I say all that to say this: DAMN it feels good to HATE the dawgs again. Did I always hate them? Yes. But for so long all we had was a furious sense of indignation that they had pulled so far ahead of us as we rooted for our fledgling, despairing program. Not anymore. We're on the ööööing rise and we're going to beat their asses one day very, very soon.

Friday night was the first time we have pushed them around and owned the field in over 20 years. What stings for me the most is that we SHOULD have won the game, but couldn’t pull it out. As said above, the wins during the CPJ years required some good will, but it never felt like we imposed our will (except maybe second half of 2008). This year we looked like the better team, and that has never been the case in my adult life.

The positive is that this game is no longer an assumed loss in the future. If Key can keep building on what he has already done here, I think the games go more like .500 from here forward. We won’t be winning one every 5-10 years by a lucky bounce; we will kick ass

Yes we could. We can't beat the refs though.

We haven't been able to line up and punch them in the face and not give an inch since maybe 2006 or so IMHO. Even during the CPJ great years, there was still a smoke and mirrors feel to the games.

If we can keep this core together, they will want blood in 2025.
We've done that two seasons in a row now, next season will be the same except we will win

You need to rewatch the 2014 game. There was no smoke and mirrors with that OL and RBs unless you mean that 14 point swing when the refs would not call JT in the end zone.

After a couple days of reflection, I feel like this year is what 2014 would have felt like had we not won. In both games we were bullying them on offense. Some refball on a big swing play kept them in the game (in 2014 it was the goal line "fumble" you mentioned; this year it was the 4th down PI call). Obviously the difference is that we still managed to pull out the W in 2014 whereas this year we fell short. It just sucks to be the better team (in regulation at least) and not come away with the W. I'm hopeful our returning players will carry that fire in their belly for next year, and leave no doubt on the field or scoreboard.

We pushed them all over the place in 2014

Their depth won out this year. We were running out of healthy DBs and Lord knows what else.
But they should relish this win this year. They earned it. They had to earn it.
And they won't get to bask in a win next year.

In the Hate Week Armory is a clip of Zeier (tool) talking about Tech's big offensive line just "keeping (their) guys on roller skates."

3 out of 4 of our DL are seniors. I don’t know who is coming up to replace them but we may need some help from the transfer portal.
We should be getting Height and Van Den Berg back. Lockett, who played very little at the beginning of the year, is out the door. we lose Zeek, Josh Robinson, Makius Scott, Kevin Harris, Youndjoen and Gore. But we redshirted three or four and maybe one or two more, DL this season. Gonna need help at DE - at least three of our top four are gone. If Height goes, then it's four of four.
Tight end spot also getting cut down with impending graduations.

Big challenge. Might need the portal.
