Groh is a good coach but did not have the personnel to run a 3-4. He plays chess to Kelly's checkers. Kelly has 5 stars standing around bewildered. He could run a 1-1-9 defense with that talent. He's worse than Van Gorder, maybe the worst in CFB.

Interesting comparison. The way I remember it, we wasted 3 years on Groh and CCK turned a 180 in half a season.

All I said is that I appreciate CCK for what he did here.

I don't think CCK is the best DC in the country, but he's pretty decent. We will see if this year is the new norm at FSU now that his system is fully in place or if it is an aberration.

I mean he also got train wrecked by a "Lamar Jackson" which will inflate that number a bit.

Also yeah I dunno if he's the best DC in the country. I'll still appreciate the work he did in 2012.
 
This is a useless thread. In the Stingtalk universe the greatest DC of all time is Tenuta, followed by Kelly; it is what it is.
 
CCK makes decent in game adjustments. He is just awful at game planning. I can't think of a bowl team that didn't ding them (or us) in the first half with him coaching.
