But it seems like UVA would want to play the game against VT this week in honor of the teammates who were killed. I guess losing three and one charged was more than they could overcome. I understand cancelling last weeks game but thought moving on with this week might help the healing process. In my experience it is best to move on with life. Of course it is none of my business.

I don’t think it’s cold-hearted to make the suggestion. It’s not like you are wanting them to play bc you’ve got money on the game or something.

I get why they’re not playing, and I’d get it if they decided to go ahead and play as well.

Is there any precedent for within the season?
I could not find one so I’m not sure what you do. It was likely easy to cancel this 1 last game than if it had happened in the middle of the season.

I would have asked the players

I can see it both ways. No shade on UVA. That was a horrible tragedy.

The thing is you can't half-ass it. If you commit to playing, the coaches and players have to prepare all week the same way they would as if nothing happened. The Hokies weren't going to show them any mercy on the field.

Obviously it's their decision either way, but I imagine most guys just wanted to spend this time with their families.

Or he’s got money on the game but made it sound like he wants to help them move on.
