I think Gailey is a good man. I think he's a fine X's and O's coach. I think he is a TERRIBLE sales man and the people you have to sell yourself to more than anyone is your players and it's PAINFULLY obvious GT's players aren't buying Gailey's sales pitch. The fans aren't buying, the players aren't buying it and I'm afraid recruits may not buy it. I don't know how you fix this any other way except to scrap it all and start over. The sooner the better.

Buzzilla, here is my take. Gailey had more than the required credentials to run a good ship, so I bought into his credentials along with the administration.

I could see his management style of letting the OC and DC coach the players and he would coach the coaches. However, the big kicker in this type of coaching is you have to react fast and make coaching changes when they are not getting the job done.

It it painfully obvious to me, we are getting progressively worse each game. Changes will have to be made now instead of at the end of the year, if the ship is to be righted. I would promote Nix to OC immediately.

I would bring each defensive assistant into my office one at a time. I would ask each assistant their honest view of the defensive coaching problems. I would then bring in Tenuta and ask him his view of the problems. Player personnel would not be discussed, other than, if any coach thought there were some player personnel problems causing dissension.

I could get a pretty good picture of the problems from these discussions mixed with my own observations. I would make the needed corrections immediately, even if it meant placing a defensive assistant over Tenuta. The DC would still get his years pay, but would lose the DC spot if required.

It is possible, there is another defensive assistant that is totally inept in his duties, or maybe more than one.

There is no reason to wait until the end of the year to make changes when they need to be made now. If Gailey can not see this and lets the ship sink this season, then give him a "thank you for trying" and send him on his way.

There must have been 50 posts this wk. saying that this game will tell us a lot. We had 12? days to prepare and many felt that we were being too harsh. "Just wait and see how well they do after preparing for Md." This will tell us a lot, they said. It started going downhill the lst play when AJ couldn't even throw ball away past the line of scrimmage! Then, personal foul penalties, etc., etc.

CG just does not have a grasp of college coaching yet. And, ahso, u r right about what he needs to do. It will be interesting, but I have a feeling status quo will prevail. He does not seem like he cares that much.

DBRAine said on pre-game that he did not have a good feeling about game cause it took team 3-4 days to get over Wake loss. Goodness gracious, from one bad thing to another.

I do not want to wait 3 yrs!!

i also bought into the chan gailey resume but, we must not let this go beyond 1 season. thank him, tell him it is not working and hire a young coach with some fire. we could no where near match the intensity maryland had. mike stoops now.

Ahso, COACH DULL made it clear last night that he wasn't going to make changes. To quote him verbatim,"there will not be any shuffling as a result of this game because this would promote
a lack of confidence". If this team hasn't lost its confidence already, I don't want to watch them when they do. THIS IS A BILL LEWIS SPECIAL PROMOTION THAT WE ARE OBSERVING. Didn't he coach with Lewis at Miami?
